After the Reception

If anyone wants to continue the night after the Reception is over, we have chosen Ever Grain Brewery as the designated "meeting spot". They are open until midnight on Friday's. This is not an official event and we can't promise anyone will be there, but we just wanted to pick a common place nearby in case anyone wants to continue hanging out with friends/family. :) So, if you want to keep the party going, check with other people first before you head over! A Change in Plans

Tim and I eloped on October 5th, 2020! We are overjoyed to be married, but to get married without all our loved ones present was such a difficult decision to make. We suspected there was a high likelihood that COVID-19 would threaten to turn our originally planned, traditional wedding into something we didn't want it to be. We didn't want anyone to have to make the decision whether or not to attend due to safety concerns, but we also didn't want to delay getting married any further down the road. So, we decided to get married now and save the big celebration for a time slightly later than originally planned, in the hopes that we can celebrate with more peace of mind. It was a bittersweet moment on our wedding day without all of our family and friends, but we are looking forward to holding a reception on Friday, September 3rd, 2021 in order to celebrate with all of you! An official invite will be mailed in the coming months. We can't wait for the day when we can all celebrate together, and your support throughout these changes has meant the world to us.

How We Met

First Date

Tim and I met when we both worked at Animas, a diabetes insulin pump company. I had been working there because of my love of biology for a while, and Tim joined in early 2016 for his interest in technology. It's only because those two interests combined that we met! Over that year, we became friends and had our own little email conversation back and forth. At one point, Tim started asking me what I would suggest someone do if they were planning a trip to visit Lancaster, as a tourist. Having fun, I planned out a handful of things I'd recommend, and he sneakily said he'd definitely need a local to show him around. That led to our first date around Halloween, 2016. One of the things that stands out to me the most about that date was I was so nervous, I could barely eat.

The Proposal

Tim proposed on April 25th, 2020--yes, during the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns were still in place and tensions were at an all-time high. On the day of, we were going to go to Ridley Creek State Park, one of our favorites. This was not unusual, since going to parks is one of our favorite things to do together on the weekends--and because nothing else was open at that time besides parks and grocery stores! But when we got there, it was so packed with like-minded people, we had to go to another nearby park. We chose a trail through the woods, and I remember thinking it was unusual that he was walking with his hands in his pockets (he later told me he was obsessed the ring would fall out), but it didn't make me suspicious. He was honestly acting completely normal and it seemed like such an ordinary day, I truly did not expect anything. I did get a little suspicious when he kept pausing on the trail to just look around and take in the surroundings, but I tried not to think too much of it. Then Tim asked me to pretend I was walking along the trail and he'd take a picture of me walking away--again, not unusual; he takes most of the pictures whenever we go somewhere. I almost said no; I don't like getting my picture taken but figured this was fine since my back would be to the camera anyway (ha ha). So I said okay, and "posed" for the picture. I think I asked, "did you get it?" Then he said my name, and somehow I just knew (!). I turned around, and there he was on one knee, asking me to marry him!
