A unique and stunning place to hike, sample cheese and watch cheese-making, meet and pet farm animals, buy fresh bread and pastries, and take in the beautiful surroundings of rolling hills and forest. After visiting the farm, we also recommend making the drive over to Shelburne Inn, which has one of the most lovely walking gardens and views of the Adirondack Mountains over Lake Champlain. Bonus points if you locate the large bat-house built nearby that houses several hundred little brown bats, who you can often hear chirping and squabbling inside in the summer.
Our favorite brewery in the entire state of Vermont, and probably in the entire world. It is a bit of a drive about 90 minutes from Burlington, but well worth the trip. Greensboro is located in the Northeast Kingdom (the NEK if you're talking like a Vermonter), our most favorite area for camping and hiking. From the brewery, nearby Caspian Lake is an excellent family-friendly spot for swimming, paddle-boarding, and lounging. Tip: Hit up the creemee window at House of Pizza in Hardwick on your way back.
Our favorite place to go paddle-boarding and spend a warm summer's day. Umiak Outdoor Outfitters is always stationed here to rent out kayaks and paddleboards, and there is a designated swim area for kids near the main parking lot.
Self-explanatory. If you love ice cream, you should go here. The factory tour costs extra and is not really worth it (in our opinion), but make sure to visit the Flavor Graveyard up the hill and obviously buy from their scoop window. There are some flavors you can only get on-site, and you can even choose to buy a Vermonster sundae, which includes 20 scoops of ice cream and is served in a bucket.
Best place for a sunset over Lake Champlain, a nice stroll, and a romantic seat on the swinging benches if you can nab one. We love to visit Foam Brewers nearby for tasty beer and free live music most nights.
Best creemees in the state! Also in our town! They have a cute giftshop attached where they sell their maple products.
