Welcome to Chattanooga! We recognize that many of our loved ones will be traveling from afar for this occasion. Our intention is to be able to spend quality time with you. Over 2,300 miles from our homelands and arriving 8 years apart, we met on Bainbridge Island, Washington. On such a small little island, it is a wonder we did not meet sooner. Timing was just right on this one! Sara was working a local street fair event selling roast chickens and Spencer was with a mutual friend, David, who introduced us. Not too much later, Sara bumped into Spencer at the local grocery store with $12 to her name and a whole chicken in her hands and exclaimed with excitement that dinner was going to be delicious! Over the next four months our friendship (seriously, we never got closer than 3 feet of one another) grew over warm fires, nature walks and David Attenborough documentaries. It was late January 2018 and Sara had an a-ha moment. She realized how much of an incredibly kind, wonderful man Spencer is. Spencer must have had an a-ha moment too. His power move was calling Sara while at the grocery store and asking if she needed anything. She responded, "Yes, caramel gelato." Spencer was at her doorstep within 15 minutes. Sara melted, not the gelato. Just to be sure we were on the same page, Sara scooted 3 feet closer to Spencer on the couch and asked, "Can I lean on you?" Spencer replied by extending his arm around her shoulder. We shared some beautiful times together in the beginning of our relationship in our tiny cabin overlooking Miller Bay, with the fellowship of wonderful friends we met in Washington. Since moving back to the Southeast, with the support of our families and friends in Michigan, Georgia and Tennessee, our bond has become even stronger. Over many heart warming meals, fires, and adventures across the US, we are so excited to join together as husband and wife for the rest of our lives. We are looking forward to celebrating love, community and commitment with those dear to our hearts in our home of Chattanooga, TN.
