For the outdoorsy type: Enjoy the unique scenery of Joshua Tree National Park and take a hike! Hikes range from an easy walk to a more strenuous trip so please plan accordingly. See link for the parks list of hikes but if you want a more curated list of some family favorites visit our FAQs page :) Hiking in the desert is not for the faint of heart so make sure to pack water and snacks and try to leave before the heat of the afternoon!
For the city kids who like to shop: Explore the nearby town of Joshua Tree with it's little strip of vintage shops, eclectic trinkets/galleries, and of course our favorite - the world famous crochet museum! For more info on our favorite spots visit FAQ page or please ask :)
For those willing to drive a bit farther (and have an appreciation for Hollywood westerns), check out kitschy Pioneertown. Walk around the old west and grab a drink at the famous Pappy and Harriet's! (you might even make friends with a horse - see pic above). And for more shopping check out the corner of Pioneertown Rd and 29 Palms Hwy.
Right next door to 29 Palms Inn, explore the oldest public building in the area. Erected in the 1920's, this schoolhouse was purchased by the Twentynine Palms Historical Society in the 1980's and has since been preserved as a unique museum. A true Twentynine palms experience for any historian! Open on weekends from 1p-4p.
Built in 1959, The Integratron is a structure designed by ufologist George Van Tassel. Tassel claimed the Integratron was capable of rejuvenation, anti-gravity and time travel. Book a famous "sound bath" (sells out weeks in advance) for the ultimate relaxation and meditative experience!
Lastly we picked the desert for a reason...do nothing and soak up the sun! Come hang at the 29 Palms Inn pool. We'll have floaties and music and the bar/restaurant will be open for refreshments :)
