Bar Crawls and Play Calls! A post on social media from a mutual friend of Katie and Spencer’s, caught Spencer’s eye while he was playing football with his brother. Little did they know, that introduction would change their lives forever. After getting her contact info, Spencer was able to talk Katie into coming to Columbia from Florida to see what a September Saturday in the City of Dreams is all about! After the weekend was over, graduation and starting careers took Katie and Spencer down separate paths. However, Spencer and Katie found opportunities to still connect over the next several years, such as a New Year’s Eve celebration at the Atlanta Aquarium, but they couldn’t shake the feeling of it being the right person, wrong time. While hotly contested as to who called who, it was a series of missed calls in the spring of 2023 that reconnected Spencer and Katie once again. Finally, God had provided the right time for the puzzle pieces to fall into place. Spencer packed his bags and headed to the Sunshine State! The journey that followed was not easy- including multiple job searches, long distance moves, and just a handful of car troubles. Through it all, they remained each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Although they have made their home with their dog Luna in Nashville, the setting for the proposal was important. Back in Columbia, at the site of where Spencer and Katie first got to meet face to face, Spencer asked for Katie’s hand in marriage. Katie and Spencer are grateful for all the folks who have hopped aboard their crazy ride and they cannot wait to create new memories with all of you.
