We're getting married!

We met through a mutual friend when we were 16 and 18 years old, attending different schools at the time. We discovered many common interests and dreams early on, particularly our shared plan to study abroad in Japan. On the first date, we spent four hours talking while sitting on the stairs of a library without eating or drinking anything. After hanging out a few times, on a special Christmas day in 2009, our friendship blossomed into something more.

Minhyeong traveled to the New York to see Soyoung back. Before the trip, Minhyeong had ordered a perfect engagement ring, but an unexpected mishap delayed the ring's pickup, which led to many texts and calls with the staff at the store. Soyoung noticed that something would happen. In the afternoon, we rented a row boat near the Bow Bridge at the Central Park. Minyeong got a bit quiet and showed Soyoung a video letter he made. Tears were rolling down his face as he asked the big question. She said "Yes" with the biggest smile.

1. Who said "I love you" first? Minhyeong said it as a joke a month after we started dating and Soyoung did not take it seriously. 2. What's your favorite activity together? Going to cafes and watching hundreds of dog videos together on YouTube. 3. What's your favorite place you've traveled to together? Soyoung: Amami Island, Japan Minhyeong: Siem Reap, Cambodia 4. What's your pizza order? No offense, but we both think Hawaiian Pizza (with extra cheese) is the best. 5. Where are you going for your honeymoon? We haven't finalized our decision yet as we're planning to leave next year. For now, we're considering Hawaii or Tanzania. 6. Who's the better cook? Definitely Soyoung. Minhyeong is the best sous-chef, though. 7. Who's more stubborn? That depends on who you ask and what day of the week it is, but most of the time, Soyoung.
