I am Juan's brother and have spent most of my life side by side with him. With no father in the picture and our mom working hard, it meant that we had to create our own path. As the older, Juan had to grow up fast so that I could enjoy my childhood. He protected me from bullies and got into fights so that I wouldn't have to. Juan helped me get my first job, get into college, and get my career underway. Today I am a successful computer engineer living a happy life with a wonderful partner. Although I've accomplished a lot, it's crazy to think how different life would be if I didn't have Juan's help. Some like to say I'm the "good one", but that's because they don't take into account that unlike Juan, I had someone to hold my hand along the way. I'll forever be grateful for that.

La mayoría de las personas me llaman Kim. Soy todóloga. Pero lo que más me gusta es viajar en olla. Aunque muchos se rían, esto me ha llevado a conocer muchos países. Soy la hermanita de la novia, y aunque sea de su tamaño, sé que siempre seré su hermanita. Nuestra relación es especial, ya que tener una hermana como ella no es solo tener una compañera de aventuras, sino una amiga verdadera que te acompañará siempre. Admiro a los más importantes en mi vida: mi mamá, mi papá y mis dos hermanas. Mi mami es trabajadora y luchadora, papi es un genio, y mis hermanas son el mejor ejemplo que la vida me ha podido dar. No sé en la tuya, pero en mi familia todo es risa. Somos locos, escandalosos, y charlatanes, el que nos conoce lo sabe, y la hermana mayor a veces anda con su genio y no se ríe. :)

The first moment that I truly knew Juan and I would get along very well was during our first halloween together as Co-Teachers. It had not even been two months in when I mentioned that it would be cool to do something co-teaching themed. I said, "why not Mario and Luigi"? And to my surprise, he said something along the lines of "that's awesome let's do it." Students would occasionally play the Mario theme on their phones throughout the day, and it was a lot of fun. But, as funny as that day was it slightly foreshadowed how the next couple of years were going to play out. We became brothers. We'd go on to stay teaching together, take a trip to Mexico City, and I even convinced the guy to eat some Chapulinos with me. It's been a great ride. And I hope you and Maria have an even better one!

Una persona que admiro es Jorge Mario Bergoglio #266 (Papá Francisco)porque no nos deja de sorprender con su bondad, gentileza, compasión y humildad. María es una mujer muy especial para mí, en nosotras existe el respeto, la confianza y la lealtad.Admiro esa energía tiene. Posee una pila Duracell 24/7 cosa que yo no tengo. Si ella está en RD donde está ella ahí estoy yo. Como dicen los dominicanos, a la única broda que le tumbo polvo es a ella. ;)

We pushed each other to get better and saw the other grow up. Juan is an awesome guy who is always willing to take the time to teach you a thing or two. No hay un día que no se sacrifica por la felicidad de los demás. Aparte de ser una madre, amiga, hermana, es también una mujer fuerte, valiente, justa, con un corazón puro. Mi amistad y hermandad con Maria comenzó en un puesto de Gelato donde trabajábamos en medio de risas. También es una persona que admiro por su gran perseverancia. My name is Sid Aguirre, I'm happily married to my wife Andrea and we reside in Harlem with our two loving cats. I met Juan at Skidmore College in 2005, we quickly bonded as we shared classes, friends, our passion for Spanish literature, sports, and the desire to make our mothers proud. I had so much fun, especially when Juan would display his great sense of humor. My favorite memories with Juan were during our time in Spain. One memorable night was when we watched our favorite soccer player at the time, Ronaldihno. Even though our team lost, we had the last laugh, as we had to quickly exit the stadium near the end of the game as fans became increasingly angry at me when I kicked a chair and it rolled down the stairs.

My name is Vivek Kapadia, born in Mumbai India and raised in south Central Pennsylvania. I met Juan early in adulthood while attending a pre-college summer program at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs NY. We were housed in adjacent dorm rooms where our friendship first grew and blossomed to what it is today. Being the jokester Juan is, we were often found engaging in mischievous activities during study breaks, sharing jokes and stories from our home lives and breaking the ice with other students in the program.

Sanyu Estelle is a Claircognizant ("clear knowing") Soothsayer ("truth teller") that is also known as "The Word Witch" because of her deep love for word origins (etymology) and word culture (philology). Born, bred buttered in Los Angeles, she is known for her straightforward card reading style ("the reading you need, not necessarily the reading you want") and her way with words via both writing and speaking. There are a lot of funny moments with Juan over the years. Like when Juan's Latinx-Caribbean self discovered he was allergic to mango in his late 20's because he had an allergic reaction to the chutney at Vishal and Hannah's wedding, but there were like 6 doctors in attendance who immediately treated them! But my favorite memory of Juan is that during our senior year, we all challenged each other's houses to a potluck-off and whoever had the best meals got to have the bragging rights. Throughout this period Juan was the most consistent house leader outside of my house and because he advocated for this event and helped get our friends together consistently, we all had a more amazing last year together before going out into the big wide world. Family, friendship, relationships and love are very important to Juan and that has improved the quality of all the connections he has and all of us who are fortunate enough to be connected to him!

My name is Roberto Alexandre, and I’m the boyfriend of Juan’s fiancée's lovely sister Estefania. First time I met Juan was in December of 2019, when Maria set up a double date for us to go bowling. When we arrived I saw this guy standing next to Maria dressed up with a tie at a bowling alley, I figure he trying to make a good first impression but looked nervous. After we were introduced he seemed a bit shy than I took off my jacket and he screamed, “OMG your PATRIOT fan,” I answered "yes." I asked him, "what's your team?" He mumbled twice than quietly whispered Jets and we both laughed and we instantly connected because we’re both big sports fan. Over time I got to know Juan to be fun around. He's very ambitious, intelligent, family man, respectful and what I admire the most is his devotion and unconditional love for Maria. I’m proud and honored to be part of your groomsmen.

Soy amante de la repostería y pasar tiempo con mi hija. Me considero una mujer trabajadora, amigable, y divertida. Dos personas que admiro son mi madre y mi hermana. Ambas son trabajadoras, independientes y fuertes. Mi madre siempre ha estado presente y ha luchado contra todo por sus hijas. Igualmente mi hermana ha tenido situaciones difíciles pero ha salido adelante y ha dado lo mejor por sus hijas. Conozco a la novia desde hace trece años cuando trabajábamos juntas en una cafetería en Central Park. María se destacaba en la limpieza y yo la llamaba “María Cloro Lavaza” porque al final del día ella llenaba el quiosco de lavaza y uno que se quería ir. Hasta hoy tenemos una buena amistad y le deseo que esta nueva etapa sea una buena decisión y que perdure hasta ser viejitos.

My name is Joel. I'm one of María's longtime friend. But I consider myself more like a brother to her. I used to see María back in high school. I didn't talk to her because she was more advance. But I did used to see her walking with her friend Senia. I can't describe a funny moment with her specifically because I think every moment that we get to spend is just fun. Road trips, house parties, etc, we just laugh, so every moment is joyful.
