(Ver debajo para leer en español.) María Sosa and Juan De Jesus met in 2019, at a Cuban restaurant in the Bronx. As teachers, they immediately connected by talking about their passion for learning and working with students. They love literature and traveling so discussing poetry by Pablo Neruda and visiting Thailand among many other trips throughout the world sparked a romantic attraction between them. After several dates, a winter walk at a Christmas market in Columbus Circle became the moment they decided to make it official and begin their journey as a couple. They started traveling and creating new and exciting memories. As the pandemic began, it brought them closer and they supported each other through the many challenges we all faced. It did not stop them from enjoying life and they continued building something special.

In the summer of 2021, a surprise trip to Cabo San Lucas, was the perfect opportunity for the next step. In a warm evening on the beach, followed by fireworks, Juan takes Maria by the shore where he gets on one knee and asks Maria to be his wife. She said yes! They are so excited to start the next phase of their lives together and cannot wait to celebrate with you in August. See you in Santiago!

María Sosa y Juan De Jesús se conocieron en el 2019, en un restaurante cubano del Bronx. Como maestros, conectaron de inmediato al hablar sobre su pasión por el aprendizaje y trabajar con estudiantes. Les encanta la literatura y viajar, por lo que hablar de la poesía de Pablo Neruda y visitar Tailandia, entre muchos otros viajes por el mundo, despertó una atracción romántica entre ellos. Luego de varias citas, un paseo en el crudo invierno neoyorquino, en un mercado navideño en Columbus Circle, se convirtió en el momento en que decidieron oficializarlo y comenzar su camino como pareja. Empezaron a viajar y a crear nuevos y emocionantes recuerdos. Al comenzar la pandemia, esto los acercó y se apoyaron mutuamente a través de los muchos desafíos que todos enfrentamos. Este momento difícil no les impidió disfrutar de la vida y continuaron construyendo algo especial.

En el verano de 2021, un viaje sorpresa a Cabo San Lucas, fue la oportunidad perfecta para dar el siguiente paso. En una cálida tarde en la playa, seguida de fuegos artificiales, Juan lleva a María a la orilla donde se arrodilla y le pide que sea su esposa. ¡Ella dijo que sí! Están muy emocionados de comenzar la siguiente fase de sus vidas juntos y no pueden esperar para celebrar contigo en agosto. ¡Nos vemos en Santiago!
