Things To Do

DC is home to world-class museums, Michelin-starred restaurants, and lovely neighborhoods. We've spent years exploring this ever-evolving city - here are some of our favorite places!

United States National Arboretum

3501 New York Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 245-2726

A gorgeous oasis in the middle of DC. While you'll need to take a car (or Uber) to get there, it's the perfect place to enjoy miles of walking trails and a picnic. Don't forget to check out the bonsai collection!

Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum

1661 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20006
, (202) 633-7970

A fabulous art museum with amazing interactive art installations.

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (877) 775-3462

A food hall and so much more. We love the fare from DC Dosa, followed by a drive-in movie in the parking lot.

Millenium Stage at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

2700 F Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20566
, (202) 467-4600

Every day at 6pm, the Kennedy Center features first-come, first-serve performances for free at their Millennium Stage. Check out anything from traditional Japanese dance to spoken word poetry.

National Portrait Gallery

8th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
, (202) 633-8300

Abraham Lincoln held his Inaugural Ball here, and it's been a DC favorite ever since. Check out the section on Presidential portraits, as well as their rotating exhibits, then follow up with a coffee in the Kogod Courtyard.

Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument

144 Constitution Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 543-2240

A fascinating look into the home of the women's suffrage movement- now a national monument after years of advocacy from female senators on both sides of the aisle.

Dupont Underground

19 Dupont Circle Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

After decades of abandonment, this old streetcar station beneath Dupont Circle has become a vibrant space for art exhibitions.

The Bishop's Garden

Pilgrim Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20016
, (202) 537-6200

A gorgeous garden located on the grounds of the National Cathedral. Grab a coffee or soft serve at the Tryst located nearby, and stroll around.

Urban Dwell

1837 Columbia Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 558-9087

A great stop for fun and interesting gifts, with a wonderful range of locally-produced goods.

Zenebech Injera Restaurant

2420 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 667-4700

Our favorite Ethiopian restaurant has moved to our neighborhood, and we couldn't be happier. Try the veggie platter and wash it down with a cold St. George beer.

Mintwood Place

1813 Columbia Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 234-6732

Serving consistently delicious bistro fare, this neighborhood spot is a favorite for Happy Hour and brunch.

Compass Rose

1346 T Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 506-4765

With menu items from around the world, there's something for everyone here! The Georgian fare really shines - the khachupuri is divine, and the selection of wines is excellent.

Tail Up Goat

1827 Adams Mill Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 986-9600

Winner of a Michelin star, this newcomer is another addition to the Adams Morgan renaissance. Don't miss the lamb ribs, their signature dish.

Chicken + Whiskey

1738 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 667-2456

A newcomer to 14th Street with a genius setup- delicious fast-casual Peruvian chicken in the front, whisky-focused speakeasy in the back!

2 Amys

3715 Macomb Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20016
, (202) 885-5700

One of our favorite spots for ice cold Peronis and Neapolitan pizza - a DC classic.

Donburi

2438 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 629-1047

Excellent fast casual rice bowls in this narrow, almost-hidden gem. The sakedon (Sophie) and katsudon (Grant) are worth the short wait.

Lapis Bistro

Lapis Bistro

1847 Columbia Road Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 299-9630

Inventive Afghan food in a warm and stylish setting. We love the vegetarian prix fix, and the brunch is excellent.

Duke's Grocery

1513 17th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

British classics with an East London twist. No visit is complete without the Proper Burger - our pick for the best burger in DC.

Pearl Dive Oyster Palace

1612 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 319-1612

Exceptional seafood with a Chesapeake Bay twist. The Addie's mussels are wonderful- just remember to pack a breath mint!
