Located in the capitol of Long Island, WinterHaven is a quaint Bahamian inn perched on the Atlantic Ocean. Perfect spot to settle into island life, and close to all of the wedding festivities. This small boutique hotel is located near to Clarence Town with very nice, comfortable rooms and a small private path that leads down to a very pretty beach called Lochabar. You would need to rent a car since it is a ways from Clarence Town (not really walkable).

Flight
Major Airport/Nassau to Long Island-BahamasAir
Getting to Long Island, Bahamas is part of the great adventure that awaits you. It is not the easiest of places to travel to but trust us, every minute on the island is worth it! The most uncomplicated path is from a major airport such as Boston to Nassau, Bahamas (Lyndon Pindling International). Approx. $176-354 currently one way. Book a one night stay in Nassau, Bahamas and catch the Bahamasair flight the next morning to Deadmans Cay, Long Island Bahamas. Nassau is really a fun place. Great restaurants, Straw Market for handmade items, and Ardastra Zoo to name some favorite spots. Stay at the fancy Paradise Island Resort, or one of the smaller hotels near Cable Beach or Downtown Nassau. Next morning jump on the BahamasAir flight for a short 55 min jaunt out to Long Island (currently $130 o/w). This flight lands in Deadman's Cay, Long Island (pronounced "Key"), only 1/2 hour from our house. BahamasAir flights from Nassau to Long Island leave Tuesday 12:15pm (you may be able to make it to Long Island in one day, plan for ~2 hours from landing in Nassau to take off to Long Island), Wednesday 7:30am, Thursday 7:45am or Friday 9:20am (current schedule). Return is much easier with BahamasAir flights out Sunday and Monday mornings around 10:50am back to Nassau. Returning to the States is much easier with flights throughout the afternoon. (you must allow yourself 2 hours before your departure in the international airport to avoid being denied flight) Note: When you arrive in Nassau you need to step outside the international airport and walk down to the domestic airport right next door (Family Terminal). This is where you will catch the Bahamas Air flight to Long Island, Bahamas. Please lean on Jodi, Sophie's mom to help you book your travel to avoid any disruption to your plans. Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Stella Maris (Long Island)-Makers Air
Another option is flying to Ft .Lauderdale (approx. $260 o/w), catch a taxi to Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport (about 20min/approx $40.) and taking Makers Air 1pm at 3:15pm (approx. $494. o/w) Stella Maris. We would have a ride waiting for you or you could rent a car. The drive from this airport is approx. 1 3/4 hrs and on the left side of the road.

We will have a shuttle to get everyone around the island throughout your stay. Driving on the island can be very tricky. First the whole left side of the road can make it nerve-racking as well as the occasional sheep. wild pig, or goat (snakes, chickens, birds) that can dart out in front of you from the bush with no warning. People also walk at night and can be very hard to see. Leave it to us to get you around the island in a stress-free shuttle

Alton Fox will have a car waiting at the airport for you if you rent from Seaaside. Great business! We highly recommend. Driving in the Bahamas is not for the faint at heart. You drive on the left unlike in the USA. There are animals and people in the road at any given time and sometimes people sleeping on the road.
