Adam and Sophie first met at work in the Fall of 2018. They started out as friends, occasionally eating lunch together with their co-workers, but their first time hanging out outside of work was playing tennis at Freedom Park – Adam won, much to Sophie’s surprise. After falling in love with Sophie’s infectious personality and quick wit, Adam knew he wanted to grow their friendship into something more. Many of the early hints went unnoticed, like buying her ice cream after tennis or showing up at her desk at work to walk to lunch together. After patiently waiting for her to realize what he was doing, he finally just asked her to dinner. Sophie was nervous that they were going to mess up their friendship (and that she would lose her tennis partner), but soon she saw the connection that Adam knew was there all along. Adam’s kindness and selflessness showed what a great heart he had. Over tacos and margaritas, they quickly realized that they had more in common than they realized and that they didn’t want to go back to just being friends. The next two years included many adventures all the way from Delaware to California, and a few in between, hunting for shark’s teeth on the beach, hiking mountains and exploring trails near Asheville, sailing in the bay, battling it out in some fierce tennis matches, trying a lot of new restaurants, and countless Jeni’s ice cream runs. On April 23rd, 2021, what was supposed to be dinner with friends turned into the most thoughtfully planned proposal, starting in a stunning garden tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Charlotte, and ending in a celebration with some of Adam’s and Sophie’s closest family and friends. Adam and Sophie are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue the celebration with all of you at their wedding in October 2022!
