Our wedding venue is 45 minutes north of LIS airport. As the wedding events are Wednesday & Thursday, we have provided suggestions for staying and exploring the country either before or after the wedding. Below are recommendations for Cascais and Lisbon. Both are absolutely beautiful and easy to access from LIS airport.

Lisbon (LIS)

Lisbon is surprisingly easy to get to from the US - there are direct flights from New York into the Lisbon Airport (LIS).

Travel Note

At the airport (or wherever you choose to explore prior to the wedding) you can grab an Uber or taxi to take you to the venue about 45 minutes north of the airport. This should cost around €40-€50. To return to Lisbon, or extend your trip, we recommend scheduling a taxi or Uber to pick you up between 11AM - 12PM local time Friday May 9th. Call ahead to book transportation Car Service: There are several in the area that are specific to airport transportation like transfeero.com where you can book cars or vans for transport.

Hotel

Grande Real Villa Itália Hotel & Spa

Cascais, Lisboa 2750-319, Portugal

If you choose to explore nearby Cascais before or after the wedding, we highly recommend the Grande Real, a gorgeous hotel where we stayed during our trip in 2022. There are many places to walk to and enjoy quickly from this hotel, including beautiful beaches. The free buffet breakfast is truly the best - you can start your day with a great breakfast and a mimosa or bloody mary!

There are plenty of amazing airbnbs and VRBOs in the Lisbon area that are amazing options for accommodations around the city.

This is the hotel we stayed at the night of our engagement. This beautiful hotel is in a central location in Lisbon with many sites to see and restaurants within a short walk.

Travel Note

Lisbon Card

The Lisbon Card includes access to metro, tram & train rides, and entrance into tourist sites. Prices start at 21 euros for a 24 hour pass, and time starts when you first use it! You can pick it up at various Welcome Centers in the city. We recommend it if you plan on doing some sightseeing in Lisbon before or after the wedding.
