Question

When do I need to RSVP?

Answer

As a destination wedding requires significant planning prior to the event, please RSVP by February 1st.

Question

What are the on site accommodations?

Answer

All wedding guests will have on-site accommodations taken care of by the bride and groom for two nights. Check in starts at 4:00PM local time Wednesday and check out is 12:00PM local time Friday. Rooms are reserved for each couple or guest and include en-suite bathrooms, breakfast each morning, and the luxury of walking just feet from the wedding venue to your bed at the end of the night! Room assignments will be provided to guests prior to arrival. If you choose to forgo the on site accommodations, there are many hotels within 3 miles of the venue as well as many Airbnb's and VRBO's. Please reach out to Sophie & Alex to talk through options.

Are children welcome at the wedding?

Answer

While we love all of the children in our lives, we have decided to keep our wedding an adults-only event. We want all parents to be able to relax and enjoy themselves!

Is English commonly spoken in Portugal?

Answer

Yes! You will be able to mostly get around without much trouble as Lisbon and Cascais are popular tourist cities, there is a lot of English influence

Do I need to use Euros, or will a credit card work?

Answer

When we visited, we used our credit cards from the US for everything except cash tips and any street vendors. We recommend taking out some cash in Euros for any tips or vendors before leaving the US.

Super Bock, Ginja, and Vinho Verde are super popular in Portugal, and quickly became fan favorites.

Will my phone work in Portugal?

Answer

Please check with your specific carrier on roaming fees while abroad, however, WiFi is always a great option. We were able to communicate using mostly WhatsApp.

Do my normal chargers and hair tools work in Portugal?

Answer

We would recommend bringing an outlet converter (you can purchase these on Amazon for about $12 for a pack of 2) so you can use your regular chargers and hair tools in Portugal. Please also check voltage of hair styling tools to see if they will work abroad.

When should I book my travel?

Answer

Try to book in advance as pricing will be lower.

How should we plan transportation to and from the venue?

Answer

Please book your transportation from the venue Friday morning in advance. Ubers: Ubers are available - reserve in the app Taxis: Radio Taxis (Tel: 218119000, 969531660 or 919781000) is the largest company and have callers who speak English. Call ahead to book transportation Car Service: There are several in the area that are specific to airport transportation like transfeero.com where you can book cars or vans for transport.

What is the time difference in Portugal? What will the weather be like during this time?

Answer

Portugal is +5 hours from the US ET timezone (12pm ET is 5pm local time in Portugal)... good thing our venue keeps the party going til 5AM! The weather will be in the mid 60s to upper 70s and possibly low 80s. Bring a sweater or jacket for the evenings - when the sun goes down, it cools off significantly.

Do I need to get a ETIAS Visa?

Answer

The ETIAS Visa will be required for individuals traveling to Europe starting in 2025. This was originally meant to start in 2024, but has been adjusted to spring of 2025 - so no need to worry about this requirement for the wedding!
