Things To Do

Pike Place Market

85 Pike Street, Seattle, WA 98101

The famous covered market - a must if it's your first or fiftieth time in Seattle! Sophia particularly recommends going to smell the loose-leaf tea blends at Market Spice, trying the honey sticks from Moon Valley Organics, or picking up award-winning chocolate-covered Chukar cherries. Nick says the gum wall is gross.

Seattle Aquarium

Seattle, WA 98101

A personal favorite of Sophia's sister and maid-of-honor Mallory. Featuring local Pacific acquatic wildlife and conservation education, but most importantly cute otters and seals.

Museum of Pop Culture

325 5th Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109

If you are a music, fantasy, video game, or science fiction fan, this is for you. Famous for Jimi Hendrix guitars and Star Trek props.

Washington Park Arboretum

2300 Arboretum Drive East, Seattle, WA 98112

If the weather is nice and you're looking to get outside, explore one of the most diverse plant-life parks in North America. 230 acres with stunning waterfront walking trails and designated animal-watching lookouts. For a small cost, you can also rent a canoe to explore by water or visit the Japanese Garden.

Chihuly Garden and Glass

305 Harrison Street, Seattle, WA 98109

For a mix of nature and art, check out the breathtaking large-scale blown glass work of local artist Dale Chihuly in this indoor-outdoor garden. Entrance is a bit pricey but worth it if you're a fan of whimsy and color. Also next to Seattle's iconic Needle, if you're into that sort of thing (Sophia and Nicholas are much happier on the ground).

Fremont Troll

Troll Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98103

Head to the Fremont neighborhood for the weird side of Seattle--including our very own giant troll under the bridge! His friend the giant statue of Lenin is nearby as well, as well as the sign marking the Center of the Universe. Fremont is home to lots of cool coffee shops, artisans, and vintage clothing stores.

Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour

614 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104

If you would like a more structured introduction to Seattle's history, get a unique perspective from this tour that shows you the city beneath the streets. I think there's one about ghosts too, if you like that?

Gas Works Park

2101 North Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103

Another outdoor visit, this park was an industrial site on Lake Union that has been turned into a recreation area with beautiful views of downtown Seattle. It's also the location of the paintball scene from 10 Things I Hate About You. Great for picnics!
