Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Sophia Payne and Adam Murray
Floyd is our home and we LOVE IT! This is the epitome of small town, and it is so full of life......and small businesses! Between live music at the country store, yummy food at the Saturday morning farmer's market (tell Yasmina that Adam and Sophia sent you), and the massive live plant shop called Lichen or Knot (love a good pun). There are so many places to shop and things to do in downtown Floyd, especially on the weekend! And who knows, they may be like us and already have their Christmas decorations up! One can only hope.....
Harvest Moon Food Store

Harvest Moon Food Store

227 North Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

The Harvest Moon is a grocery store stocked full of organic and clean ingredient options. It has artisnal olive oils and makeup and even Christmas decorations too. It's packed full of all kinds of options for you to browse and find. On top of all the goodies inside, we love shopping there because Adam's brother Andrew owns and runs the store! So swing by and check it out, and on your way into and out of the parking lot, you can see Adam's chiropractic office as they share a parking lot!

The Soda Fountain at the Floyd Country Store

The Soda Fountain at the Floyd Country Store

202 South Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

The Floyd Country Store has live music every weekend. The weekend of the wedding, they will have their jamboree Friday, November 14th from 6:30 pm - 10 pm. It's come and go, and you can enter the store for free, but to stay for the music, you will need to pay $10. On Saturday, November 15th, you can go and experience Americana Afternoons from 12 pm - 3 pm. This is a free event. We highly recommend you swing by, whether during a time of live music or not, as the country store is a really cool place with an ice cream/soda shop attached to it!

Red Rooster Coffee

Red Rooster Coffee

823 East Main Street, Floyd, VA 24091

This is the coffee we drink every morning. They do a fantastic job roasting their beans, so we highly recommend grabbing a bag to take home with you! Their freshly made drinks are delicious and well worth the stop. We recommend swinging by Red Roosters, grabbing a beverage, and then heading up to downtown Floyd to do some shopping and seeing all the activities Floyd has to offer on a Friday afternoon or a Saturday/Sunday morning!

Lichen or Knot Plant Company, LLC

Lichen or Knot Plant Company, LLC

105 East Main Street, Floyd, VA 24091

This store Sophia likes to frequent on a regular basis. There are so many live plants, it's hard to decide where to even start! The girls that work there have always been helpful to know what plant is right for the space it'll live in and how to best care for it! Around the corner from their shop, they also have a home store with a lot of cute things for your house. The whole place is very nicely curated and is a go-to for showing people the cool/cute small businesses in Floyd!

Cocoa Mia

Cocoa Mia

109 East Main Street, Floyd, VA 24091

If you have a sweet tooth like we do, then Coco Mia is a great stop on your Tour de Floyd! The chocolates in there are to die for and the hot cocoa is, as Ken would say, SUBLIME. We highly recommend you stop in and try a variety of their truffles!

Angels in the Attic

Angels in the Attic

210 South Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

If you like a good thrift shop, check out Angels in the Attic! They have a huge selection inside, and there's even a furniture store down the street, right behind Adam's Chiropractic Office!

Blue Ridge Diner

Blue Ridge Diner

113 East Main Street, Floyd, VA 24091

Blue Ridge Diner is a yummy Breakfast/Lunch spot we recommend! There can be a wait on Saturday mornings, but they tend to get you seated quickly and have very friendly service!

Dogtown Roadhouse

Dogtown Roadhouse

302 South Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

Dogtown is a great spot in the heart of downtown. They have pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and some wings. Their gf pizzas are delicious, so those with an allergy, you will be able to eat there!

Floyd Farmers Market

Floyd Farmers Market

203 South Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

The Floyd Farmers Market runs from 9 am - 1 pm on Saturdays! They have good food, live music, and local artisans. It's a fun place to wander as all the good shops branch off from the farmers market, making walking around an easy and fun experience. The woman who runs the farmers market, Yasmina, is awesome. Tell her we sent you if you run into her!

Phoenix Hardwoods

Phoenix Hardwoods

101 East Main Street, Floyd, VA 24091

One of our favorite shops to browse and admire is Phoenix Hardwoods. The furniture in here is handmade, and one-of-a-kind. There are photographs and artwork mixed throughout the store as well. It's located inside the old General Hardware store, making it an iconic and beautiful stop.

The Book House

The Book House

132 North Locust Street, Floyd, VA 24091

This local bookstore is great! It also has a coffee shop inside! The books are all throughout this old home, and the selections are eclectic and specially curated. There are spots with art supplies, puzzles, handmade cards, and more! Sophia enjoys walking up to the bookstore on a weekly basis to snag some coffee and browse their art supply section while chatting with her friend Katie that works there. Book and art lovers, definitely check this spot out!

Nancy's Candy Company

Nancy's Candy Company

2684 Jeb Stuart Highway, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120

If you are staying in an area called Meadows of Dan (or willing to drive about 20 minutes outside of Floyd), then this is a great spot to hit up! This is a chocolate factory with a storefront, so you know the chocolates are made in house! And for those that are big jelly bean fans, they have a massive wall of almost any flavor imaginable. Those with the sweetest of sweet tooths, hit this place up!

Poppy's in Meadows of Dan

Poppy's in Meadows of Dan

10 Concord Rd, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120

If you are a crafter, then Poppy's is a place to go see! This store is full of yarn, craft supplies, books, vintage items, and more! It is in Meadows of Dan, but the drive there is stunning and well worth it!
