Semi-formal. For the men, suit and tie or a tux are acceptable. For women, floor-length gowns. It will be chilly, as it will be November and this is a mountain town. We will have heaters throughout the ceremony and reception area, but you will likely want to bring a long coat to stay warm.
You will be parking in the grass, but the location provides parking attendants so it is very organized and easy to navigate in and out of!
Unless it rains (or snows, who knows anymore), the ceremony will be outside. The seating will mostly be church pews. The tables for the reception are all inside, and the dancing and bar area will all be outside on a brick dance floor. There is limited seating out there, but people can stay inside the barn to sit and continue eating, or they can head out back for dancing any time they'd like. Feel free to bring coats to wear to stay warm. Sophia will likely have her faux fur coat to wear, if need be. You are welcome to match that energy with a "nicer" coat if you'd like!
Airbnbs or VRBOs in this area are great. The views and the peace and quiet are unmatched. Areas to look in are: Floyd, Riner, Pilot, Willis, and Meadows of Dan. Keep in mind that this is a mountainous area, and weather could make it interesting, depending on where you pick. Also, what looks "close" on the map could still be a 30 minute drive thanks to the mountain roads! Hotel Floyd is a very nice hotel and it's in the heart of downtown, making all the places on our "Recommendations" page within walking distance. Christiansburg hotels will be ~20-30 minutes away from the wedding venue. So any option there will be great as far as getting to the wedding on time!
The location is a converted barn. The bottom floor is where the reception will be, and the top floor can be an alternative location for the ceremony. Our plan is to have it outside, but having an option is great for that just in case need! So, no matter what, the wedding will happen at The Eighty-Four. And we will have signs and/or attendants helping you navigate where to go when you arrive.
Please let us know on your RSVP what your food allergy is so we can plan accordingly! Sophia is allergic to gluten, so there will be plenty of gluten-free options. However, if it is not a gluten allergy, please let us know and we will do our best to have food available for you! (if you've already filled out your RSVP and didn't list your food allergy, please message Sophia or Adam to give them the heads up)
