FAQs

Question

When should i rsvp by?

Answer

We kindly ask that you RSVP by June 01, 2026 but if you can let us know before then, please do! Please RSVP through our website.

Question

When should i start planning?

Answer

As soon as you can! We recommend planning as far out in advance as possible. Flights are typically released 11-12 months out. We recommend booking your accommodation ASAP at La Cotte Farm as they do book out far in advance and rooms are not guaranteed. This recommendation applies to all accommodation including Safari (if you choose to do this). This is South Africa's high season!

Question

I’m planning on traveling before / after, where should i stay?

Answer

We’ve stayed (or visited) the following hotels and absolutely loved it. However, there are several options that can accommodate any budget! Cape Town: we stayed in a beautiful Airbnb near Clifton 4th Beach and loved it! There are a ton of Airbnb options in Cape Town (we recommend Camp's Bay and Clifton areas). We also recommend the Mount Nelson Hotel! There are so many parts of Cape Town to stay in - Constantia is another beautiful area, The Waterfront has great hotels, and Camps Bay is a beautiful beach town with hotel/Airbnb options as well. Franschhoek: we strongly advise guests to secure a reservation at La Cotte Farm for the duration of the wedding (April 12-16th). However, if you are looking to extend your stay, we recommend Leeu Estate and Babylonstoren. Please note Babylonstoren is a 45 minute drive away! Please note, Sophia & Gavin and their families will be staying at La Cotte Farm from April 12th - 16th. Safari: we had an unforgettable stay at Phinda Vlei Lodge (they are a Big 5 Private Game Reserve)! That being said, the most famous safari destinations in South Africa are Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. For those who’d prefer not to fly, there are also several private game reserves within driving distance of Cape Town (around eight hours), making it possible to enjoy a world-class safari without getting on a plane.

Question

Travel Requirements

Answer

Please be sure that your passport is current and valid. South Africa requires that passports remain valid for at least 30 days beyond your planned departure date. If you are traveling with children, kindly ensure their passports and travel documents are also up to date (Passports for children ages 16 and under are valid for 5 years). As a reminder, standard passport processing can take 4–6 weeks, so we encourage you to check early to avoid any last-minute stress.

Question

What should i pack?

Answer

April is equivalent to September in California, so think warm summer weather and cooler temperatures at night. For wedding event specific attire please refer to our “Attire” page for inspiration. It may be cooler in the evenings so be sure to pack layers.

Question

I have a food allergy, can i make a special request?

Answer

We kindly ask that you let us know of any allergies or specific dietary restrictions through the RSVP link. If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to Sopa or Gavin directly!
