(Allie): My coworkers at the time were on a mission to get me out and dating. I was uninterested in dating as I was "focusing on my career". Well, I finally caved in and was set up on a date (probably the worst date I've ever been on). Around the same time, my co-worker, Marcela, mentioned her neighbors who had two sons around my age. One of the sons was stationed in San Diego but was coming home after the holidays. I knew she was trying to set me up on another date (eye roll) but she just told me to "text him and just be friends, he lives too far anyways" (Hah...). To make her happy and hopefully divert another horrible date, I texted a corny message hoping I wouldn't get a response. "What's up Bro, Want to be friends? 🖖”. Well... the rest is history 🖖🥰.
