The love we have for Jesus, the love He has for us, and the love we have for each other. Due to COVID-19, we have decided to still get married on June 13th, but with a small intimate gathering with immediate family only. Although our wedding plans are looking different than what we had originally planned and wish we could be celebrating with everyone, we are just so excited to be married and to get to put the focus solely on our love for each other and our marriage ahead. Because of this, we are postponing our large celebratory reception for August 29th, 2020. Here we will celebrate our wedding how we had planned at Willow Vale Events in Hillside, Colorado with a ceremony/vow renewal, dancing, food, and fun! You can RSVP anytime on our wedding website, and we will also be sending out our wedding invitations/changed the dates as soon as possible. Although we first met when we were in 6th and 5th grade when we played on the same rec soccer team, we first really got to know each other when we were in our high school show choir, Encore. Elise: Lucas was this cute, funny, young freshman when I first met him in high school. We were in the same musical at the time, and we were in our school's show choir, Encore together. He was always making jokes, and we were just friends for a couple of years. I remember one day though, my senior year, (his junior year) when I went home early from school sick, and he reached out to me and made sure I was okay, and this was when I started to see the possibility of something more with him. We started talking more, and he was just such a genuinely sweet guy, who genuinely cared about others which I really loved! Lucas: Elise was always so genuine and kind to everyone around her. When I met her in high school, she was this cute sophomore who was so fun to be around. I always looked forward to being around her. Even though she didn't know me super well, she would always be interested in what was going on in my life which really meant a lot to me. She has just always been beautiful both inside and out! Lucas: Elise's senior prom was coming up and I knew that I had to ask her as I was secretly hoping it would start something between us. I knew I didn't just want to go to prom together, I really wanted to continue to move forward with us as a couple afterwards. Thankfully, after I asked Elise to prom (and she said yes), the start of our relationship really began! Five years later and it has been the biggest blessing getting to watch each other grow individually and as a couple through high school graduations, college graduations, new jobs, the start of careers, long distance, and our first place together! Five incredible years later, and we're now trading in our high school boutonnieres and corsages for wedding bands and forever promises!

We were in Hawaii on a vacation with his family, and we were going to take family pictures on the beach. We had finished taking pictures and were about to leave when Lucas's little brother "lost the camera lens cap." Lucas's mom went to go help look for the cap, while the rest of us waited back by the grass. After a little while his family called saying they needed more help finding it, and when we walked back to the beach, it was truly picture perfect. Lucas took my hand and written in the sand were our names in a heart, and just as I started to piece together what was happening, Lucas got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Between the strong winds, my happy tears, the sand in our toes, and the beautiful Hawaiian water behind us, I shouted "YES!", held out the wrong hand at first, and we were engaged!
