Visit the Frankfort Lighthouse
Head to Frankfort beach for a walk out to the lighthouse. Beautiful spot to watch the sunset or enjoy a morning coffee (and where Bradley proposed to Julie!)
Hike Sleeping Bear Dunes
Lots of options for all levels! Check out the Big Dune Climb or venture through wooded trails. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan too.
Visit Point Betsie Lighthouse
The Point Betsie Lighthouse is one of the most popular and visited lighthouses on Lake Michigan. It was also the last manned lighthouse until it was finally automated in 1983. Tours to the top are available on certain days and the best place to find perfect skipping stones. (Not to mention it's one of Julie's favorite spots up here!)
Beers and Eats at Stormcloud Brewery
Grab a bite or a drink at the pub in Downtown Frankfort or head over for a tour at the brewery and tasting room on Parkview Lane (near the bottom of "the hill"). Often a short wait. Get a beer from the bar and enjoy lawn games in the side yard.
Kayak the Betsie River
Rent a single or tandem kayak through Crystal Lake Adventure Sports and take in the beautiful Betsie River! No whitewater here, just a relaxing, winding paddle from 2 to 4 hours. CLAS will take care of delivery/pickup too!
Golf Arcadia Bluffs
This is a true northern Michigan gem. Located about 30 mins from Frankfort, Arcadia Bluffs is a beautiful, public course along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Rated one of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest. If interested in this activity, make a tee time as soon as possible!
Rent a Bike
Rent a bike through Crystal Lake Adventure Sports and explore northern Michigan's many trails! Most trails in the area are flat...unless you seek something more adventurous!
Go Antiquing
Explore the many antique shops in the area. Frankfort offers several but our favorite is in Beulah, a 10-minute drive away.
Late Night Movie at the Cherry Bowl
This is one of the last theaters of a bygone era. Yes, a real drive-in theater! Find a great parking spot or walk up to the front for prime viewing. Open since 1953 and still going strong! About 20 mins from Frankfort. Remember, movies don't start until dusk!
Shop Downtown Frankfort
It's not a trip unless you bring home a souvenir. Enjoy the 6% sales tax and buy something to commemorate your trip to Frankfort. Filled with lots of cute shops and stores as well as cafes. Need a break? Try Crescent Bakery for a coffee or snack.
Ride the Crystal Coaster
Ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain, hop on a specially-designed sled, and race down the 1,700-foot-long curved tracks. You control the speed in this action-packed thrill ride with dips, high-bank turns, and spectacular views. (One of Tori's favorite activities!) Located at Crystal Mountain, 20 mins from Frankfort.
Paddleboard Lake Michigan
Rent a paddleboard from Crystal Lake Adventure Sports and venture out onto Lake Michigan. Enjoy a paddle down the undeveloped beach to the north. CLAS' beach hut is located around the corner from the hotel and they will deliver your paddleboard to the beach.
Take in a Movie at the Garden Theater
When inclement weather hits or life calls for a relaxing night in, the Garden Theater is the best place to catch a movie in Frankfort. The renovated, historic theater shows first run and classic films -- and is the only theater we know with a clock inside!
Golf at Crystal Lake Golf Club
Choose from 9 or 18 holes with views of neighboring Crystal Lake. A short 15 min drive from Frankfort, to Beulah.
