Hear me out - Tijuana Flats was our first date and it'll always hold a special place in our hearts. It may be the furthest thing from authentic Mexican food, but the conversations and long talks we had here were most definitely authentic. Our first "friend date" was here in November of 2014. Over the course of five years, we'd end up going probably hundreds of times. We really got to know each other here - we talked about everything under the sun while sharing chips and queso. The food is definitely good (the grilled flautas are a must have), but the company and the experiences here are what make it a top lunch contender in our book.
We love to go on coffee dates and munch on snacks as we talk for hours on end. East End Market is such a wonderful place for that! Local vendors of all kinds are available for your every need. Here are some of our personal favorites - Gideon's Bakehouse - hands down our favorite. If you're looking for a deliciously rich cookie that's larger than the palm of your hand, look no further than Gideon's. We are particularly fond of the classic chocolate chip! La Femme du Fromage - amazing cheese selections! We really love buying local cheeses and making our own cheese boards for wine nights with friends. Porch Therapy - no joke, it's truly therapeutic. Walking through their selection of plants truly reconnects you with nature - and you never have to leave East End for the experience. Lineage Coffee Roasting - like I said, we love our coffee. Lineage has a great coffee selection, and you won't be disappointed.
Don't be confused by the old fish market facade on the outside - The Heavy is the best hidden jungle in Orlando. We always stopped here after a bite at Black Bean Deli to look at all the plants - regardless of neither of us having green thumbs. If you happen to be plagued with your plants never lasting more than a few weeks, like us, they have some great succulents and marimo balls that we love.
Would we really be Floridians if we didn't say Disney? As Annual Passholders for over four years, we went to Disney A TON. In fact, it was our absolute favorite date day. If you want to relive our favorite kind of Disney Day - start at our favorite park, Magic Kingdom (of course). Hit the classics first - Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, the People Mover, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and the Carousel of Progress. Finish up the day with fireworks and you've got the recipe for the best kind of Disney Day.
