Old City is a cool and historic neighborhood is Philadelphia. Many of Old City's residents live in restored 18th-century rowhouses that line some of the country's oldest streets. Nightlife options for fashionable crowds include trendy eateries and bars along South 2nd Street.
A visit to the Magic Gardens offers a colorful, surreal escape from everyday life. Spanning half a block, the museum includes an immersive outdoor art installation and indoor galleries. The artist, Zagar, created the space using nontraditional materials such as folk art statues, found objects, bicycle wheels, colorful glass bottles, hand-made tiles, and thousands of glittering mirrors.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is an art museum originally chartered in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. The main museum building was completed in 1928 on Fairmount, a hill located at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval. The museum administers collections containing over 240,000 objects including major holdings of European, American and Asian origin. The various classes of artwork include sculpture, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, armor, and decorative arts.
If you want to take in some history while in Philadelphia, check out Independence Hall. A fair warning - the line to get in to see the Liberty Bell gets long at times. You can see it from the outside of the building, so we suggest doing that instead!
One of the nation’s oldest and largest public markets, first opened in 1893. Today, it stands out as one of the greatest public markets in the country and people come here for excellent produce, meat, cheese, specialty chocolate, flowers, and gifts—and the legendary soft pretzels from Miller’s Twist.
If you're coming from out of town and planning on making a trip longer than just the weekend we suggest getting to the Jersey Shore. Cape May is a historic Victorian shore town, it is known for its beautiful architecture, delicious food and drinks, quaint shops, and beautiful beaches. If you are looking for a day trip to walk around and enjoy the sunshine we highly recommend visiting Cape May. The sunset at Sunset Beach is pretty great too!
