The first permanent public farmer's market of it's kind, the Public Market is a fantastic place to shop for delicious local goods and grab a bite to eat. Try an apple cider donut or grab some cheeses, salami and wine and have a picnic of your own.
One of our favorite haunts, Yvonne's is a speakeasy that took over the old Locke-Ober, one of the oldest bars in Boston, and still features the original solid oak bar. Look for the neon sign in the alleyway and sneak in past the "hair salon". Great atmosphere, incredible drinks.
Both our ceremony and reception venues are along Boston's Freedom Trail, which marks dozens of locations of historic significance in the city that contributed to the independence of the nation.
The Parker House is the longest continuously operating hotel in the US and directly across from the Old City Hall, also along the Freedom Trail. The Parker House has held such guests as Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Longfellow, and Emerson. Malcolm X and Emeril Lagasse worked here. JFK announced he was running for congress here. It's also the birthplace of the Parker House Roll and the Boston Cream Pie. Enjoy a cream pie and a slice of history.
A North End hidden gem, the Snodgrass family have enjoyed birthdays, holidays, and just general nights dining together here. Come for the fresh pasta, stay for the cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff.
We always like to celebrate at the Top of the Hub. Come here for the most spectacular panoramic views of the city of Boston and the Best Damn Martini in town. We recommend sitting at the bar for drinks and snacks as the setting here is quite formal and dinner is not cheap - but is a delightful treat!
The oldest public library in America, the BPL is a stunning work of architecture. Stand in awe of the wrought iron gates and the lion statues on the marble staircase. Then grab a coffee at the NPR recording studio, stop for a cocktail at the Map Room, or bring the kiddos for a fun reading.
Absolutely the best cocktail bar in Boston. Drink doesn't have a menu, but it is still a fulfilling experience. Just tell the bartender what you want to drink and they'll whip up a specialty cocktail for you on the spot.
A kitschy Japanese pub attached to a rock-themed hotel that used to be a Howard Johnson. Try the Wasabi Roulette or the Nori Sushi Taco. We're regulars.
Amazing barcade hidden behind the fridge doors in a grilled cheese restaurant. Screw Disney World, this is the happiest place on earth. Try the truffle tots and a game of Centipede.
Located just a few blocks from A4cade (and around the corner from where we met!) Lamplighter is one of Boston's best breweries, in our not so humble opinion. Stop here pre- or post- your arcade experience. Make a night of it! We always do...
If you're around Harvard Square (and you definitely should be), relax and dine on the patio or in the cozy basement space at Russell House. A Harvard staple, Russell House has a great raw bar and seafood selections and a brunch menu with four kinds of Bloody Marys. FOUR.
Take a moment to recreate our engagement shoot at Citizen, another favorite Fenway locale. Surround yourself with wood, mirrors, expensive whiskey and good company as you nosh on their raw bar, or whole roasted suckling pig. Laura would also like to encourage you to try the buffalo cauliflower bites. Please eat your vegetables, people.
A stunning and eccentric museum, the ISG is unlike any other art museum. The site of an unsolved art theft, the museum keeps the empty frames on display, alongside the unique collection of ephemera and antiques curated by Mrs. Isabella herself.
