After years of waiting, join us to celebrate!

Kieran and Sam’s paths first crossed in 2012 at Rutgers University, where they both arrived for soccer preseason. Before stepping foot on campus, Kieran had heard about a “Sam from Canada” from an article outlining the Rutgers Men's recruiting class, only to discover that the article was wrong and it Samantha was on the women’s team. During their four years at Rutgers, they supported each other through the ups and downs of college athletics, academics, and life. Upon graduation, Sam had to return to Canada, which posed a rather serious question for two young people to consider - what do we do now? Despite the clear difficulties, they decided to continue their relationship, even if it meant enduring the distance. Over the next two years, they balanced full-time jobs, Kieran pursuing an MBA, and Sam deciding her next steps. Despite their busy schedules, they managed to see each other once a month and exchanged heartfelt letters to preserve memories for the future. When Sam was accepted into the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, it meant more long-distance... likely 4 more years. Though Sam considered declining her seat and moving to New Jersey to be with Kieran, he encouraged her to go. They knew their relationship wasn’t a matter of “if,” but rather “when", and with this move to NC, they would continue to figure out when their paths could join together permanently. Sam moved to North Carolina, and while organizing visits remained difficult, they hoped the end of the distance was getting closer. On April 22, 2019, Kieran proposed to Sam at Liberty State Park, and they married in an intimate court ceremony later that year surrounded by immediate family. Over the past five years, they navigated the challenges of immigration, grown in their careers, moved states, bought a home, and raised a lively German Shepherd, Eva; growing the life they wrote about in their letters. Now, after years of waiting, they are finally able to celebrate their journey and union with family and friends. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are ecstatic to share this special day with all the people throughout our story to finally celebrate together!
