Third time's the charm! We are so excited to finally celebrate with our family and friends! We look forward to the food, drinks, and dancing each night will bring us. Feel free to look around our website as it contains tons of useful information about our wedding. See you soon! With Love, Sanil & Sneha
Meet our parents! They are our mentors, our cheerleaders, our inspiration and motivation. Here's a breakdown of what to expect from them this wedding weekend. Sima (Sanil's mom): The ultimate connoisseur of fashion, food, and fun. She's the life of the party... both on and off the dance floor. Rajal (Sneha's mom): A heart of gold and moves faster than the Energizer Bunny. Expect excitement that she can't contain and dancing like no one's watching. Sanjay (Sanil's dad): Witty and charming. Expect non-stop jokes from this high-spirited conversationalist. Jayant (Sneha's dad): Sincere and earnest. His way with words will bring you to tears, and his rhythm will blow you away.
Sneha: My first memory of Sanil is at the age of 17. He considered himself “a cool kid” in high school, but my first impression of him was a bit different—very talkative, mop-haired, and a little…clingy. We were friends at first—until he professed his love for me. And just one month later, he said he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. It wasn’t that simple—we lived in different states and had to travel regularly to spend a little time with each other (I mean, he did most of the traveling and dealt with me through medical school and residency). 9 years later, he’s definitely still the “cooler” half of us, and he’s just as talkative, but a few things have changed—his hair is literally always perfect, and now I’m the one who’s clingy. Sanil: I remember meeting Sneha while I was in high school. She was nerdy, shy, and a bit awkward. We were friends at first but then she admitted she loved me. At the time I thought I had a great catch— she's smart, driven, independent, and funny. Obviously, I knew what she saw in me— a charismatic, well-styled gentleman, who may be the most humble man on the market. We were long-distance for what seemed like forever, and it was difficult. But the time apart made us value our time together so much more. Even though it was tough at times, we were happy. Nine years later, we are finally moving our relationship forward, and I couldn't be happier.
Sanil: I had asked Sneha a long time back what her ideal proposal looked like. Unbeknownst to her, the proposal was in the works for two years! I had the ring made a year before I popped the question, had her friends help pick out the dress, and asked her mom help select accessories. I picked a Saturday in June that just happened to be the hottest day known to man kind. Sneha: I’d finally gotten a weekend off from work and had planned to have dinner at my favorite pizza place in New York with Sanil. Suddenly at 3 PM he started texting me to come to the apartment. I was suspicious that he had a surprise planned, but didn’t at all expect what he had put together. Sanil: Everything was set, I planned every little detail. The only thing I forgot was Sneha. If you know Sneha at all, you know she is perpetually late going anywhere. Naturally, when she arrived home, we were short on time. With New York City traffic and Sneha saying she is ‘almost ready’ we were headed for an hour delay. Sneha: I came back to my apartment and saw a beautiful coral dress, earrings, 2 pairs of shoes, and 2 purses laid out for me. I looked at him and asked, “Are you going to propose to me??” He had a perfectly straight face and just said, “No. Come on, let’s go.”
Sanil: We hopped in an uber towards Roosevelt Island and started to walk around. The sun was beaming down on us, and I could tell she was getting hungry (which is not a good combination for her…or for me…). I took her by an old small pox hospital thinking it would be interesting for her. Sneha: For some reason, we stood in front of a small pox hospital so he could give me a history lesson. And then we ended up in a beautiful tree-lined park. At this point, I had asked him about 10 times if he was going to propose, and each time he had managed to decrease my expectations a little bit more. I turned around there he was on one knee. I can’t remember what he said or what I said, but I remember being shocked and overjoyed. The surprises continued and he brought me to a restaurant where both of our parents and brothers were waiting for us. And then led me to where our closest friends were waiting to surprise me. It was an incredible and unforgettable night, and I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal story <3
