Travel Note

How to get here!

Here are details on getting to our destination wedding! We are officially inviting guests to arrive to Puerto Escondido on Thursday, November 9th when accommodations will be booked and ready for check-in. You are more than welcome to arrive on Friday 11/10 or even Saturday 11/11 if it is most convenient. Your final destination will be Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM) in Oaxaca, Mexico. The only way to reach this airport is to fly into Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and transfer to a domestic flight to Puerto Escondido. IMPORTANT: Please plan a minimum of a 2.5 hour layover at the Mexico City airport when booking your flight to Puerto Escondido. Mexico City Airport's customs line can be unpredictably long and you may have to transfer to a different terminal depending on the airlines you book. If you can't find a convenient layover time and have a flexible schedule, we suggest spending the night in Mexico City (recommended hotels listed below).

Booking Mexico City Flight

If you are somewhat experienced with booking flights, we suggest booking separate flights to save money on your ticket. It's usually cheaper to book a round trip ticket from Your City to Mexico City (MEX) and a round trip ticket from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido (PXM). We suggest this method because most popular travel sites like kayak.com and priceline.com do not include all the domestic airlines in Mexico. There are three airlines that fly from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido: VivaAerobus, Interjet and Aeromar. Aeromar is the most common airline used on travel sites and also the most expensive. Please explore all 3 airlines to compare prices before booking a round trip ticket from Your City to Puerto Escondido. We list times/prices for these airlines here. Travel sites we recommend for booking your flight to Mexico City (or directly to Puerto Escondido if you don't care to do extra research): flights.google.com www.skyscanner.com www.momondo.com www.kayak.com www.skiplagged.com

Viva Aerobus

Viva Aerobus offers the cheapest flights from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido. However the times might be less convenient than the other two domestic airlines. TIP: Our advice is to book from the Mexican version of the Viva Aerobus site since this will give you the MXN peso price which is slightly cheaper than the USD price listed on their English site. Book "Origen" as Ciudad de Mexico (Terminal 1) Book "Destino" as Puerto Escondido Flight times: Thursday, 11/9 6:25am - 7:35am, 667.18MXN ($35 one-way) or [$51 round-trip, w/ Monday departure] 9:05pm - 10:15pm, 667.18MXN ($35 one-way) or [$51 round-trip, w/ Monday departure] Friday, 11/10 6:25am - 7:35am, 667.18MXN ($35 one-way) or [$51 round-trip, w/ Monday departure] 9:05pm - 10:15pm, 667.18MXN ($35 one-way) or [$51 round-trip, w/ Monday departure] Saturday, 11/11 6:25am - 7:35am, 667.18MXN ($35 one-way) or [$51 round-trip, w/ Monday departure]

Flight

Interjet

Interjet is the 2nd cheapest option of the three airlines, however there are limited flights available. They offer one flight per day from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido, departing at 12:00pm. Flight times: Thursday, 11/9 Flight 3250, 12:00pm - 1:05pm, 1703 MXN ($91 one-way) or [$148 roundtrip, w/ Monday departure] Friday, 11/10 Flight 3250, 12:00pm - 1:05pm, 1703 MXN ($91 one-way) or [$148 roundtrip, w/ Monday departure]

Flight

Aeromar

Aeromar is the most expensive option from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido but they have the most available flights at convenient times. This is also the airline most commonly used by travel websites if you search for flights directly to Puerto Escondido. If you choose to book Aeromar to Puerto Escondido, our suggestion would be to buy a one-way ticket and look into a VivaAerobus or Interjet return flight to Mexico City to save yourself money. Flights times: Thursday, 11/9 Flight VW 537, 10:45am - 12:10pm, 2961MXN ($158 one-way) Flight VW 539, 2:45pm - 4:10pm, 2961MXN ($158 one-way) Friday, 11/10 Flight VW 537, 10:15am - 11:42am, 1995MXN ($106 one-way) Flight VW 537, 2:45pm - 4:10pm, 1995MXN ($106 one-way) Saturday, 11/11 Flight VW 537, 10:15am - 11:42am, 2961MXN ($158 one-way)

Puerto Escondido Accommodations

Come live it up on the beach! We will be pre-booking beach houses and hotel rooms for all our guests, so there'll be no need to book any accommodations in Puerto Escondido for Thursday 11/9 - Monday 11/13! Once we've received all of our RSVP's and finalized our guest list, we will let everyone know where they'll be staying and additional costs for the rooms. You're welcome to book your own accommodations if you prefer. If you plan to arrive in Puerto Escondido before Thursday 11/9 or want to stay beyond Monday 11/13, we would suggest staying in the Hotel Santa Fe in Puerto Escondido where we have reserved 15 rooms for our guests. It's a beautiful 4-star hotel with a reasonable price and located on the wonderful Zicatela Beach. It's located only 20 minutes from our house and 10 minutes from the airport. If you choose to book here, please let them know you are part of the "Sean/Chrissy Hofman Party" and you will receive a discounted rate.

Accommodations in Mexico City

If you can't find a convenient flight that gets you to Puerto Escondido in one day, there is the option of staying the night in Mexico City and flying to Puerto Escondido the next day. There are plenty of places to stay for a night near Mexico City International Airport. Our recommendations are the Hilton or the Courtyard Marriott which are both less than a mile from the airport. However, if you have the luxury of taking a couple extra days off, we definitely recommend that you check out Mexico City! Mexico City is an amazing city and everything is just an Uber ride away (shameless plug) and there are AirBnB options galore. We stayed for two nights in January at a great AirBnB in the historic district. We checked out the city's famous Museum of Anthropology, Diego Rivera's murals, got drunk off good tequila, and ate some amazing food! Feel free to reach out for recommendations, but make sure you definitely grab some tacos al pastor whatever you do!
