How We Met

What are the chances...

Both Sean and Christine lived in San Diego. However, it wasn't until they moved from their native California halfway across the world, that they finally met one another. At the start of Sean's second year in Japan, he received friendly intel that a half-Japanese hottie was at Tokyo orientation and headed his way! Once they were at the same orientation, Christine felt Sean's nervous glances in her direction and initiated polite conversation. This conversation continued through the welcome dinner and well into the after party. After drinks and dancing at what became the most hallowed haunt for all their friends in Hiroshima, Sean considered the time to be right to go in for a kiss. Christine laughed in his face and refused, albeit very graciously. Undeterred Sean tried again at their next meeting, Christine again refused. Not long after, Sean's persistence and undeniable charms led Christine to finally acquiesce to his advances and they have quite literally lived happily ever since.

The Proposal

Sean is sneakier than Christine realized...

Although Christine thought Sean was acting a little weird the week leading up to the day, she didn't make anything of it. Sean had planned a "special day" to pamper Christine that started off with mimosas, a couple's massage, and a manicure. After the spa, he pulled out Giants gear and Giants tickets for that day's game! Big time Giants fan that she is, Christine was stoked. Sean even did the unthinkable and donned a Giants hat (he was pulling out all the stops). The game went into extra innings and Sean started to get antsy; Christine thought they might be late for dinner reservations. They left the game, but instead of a restaurant they headed up to San Francisco's iconic Coit Tower. At this point, Christine started to get an inkling of what was happening. However, she did not expect her family and Sean's parents to suddenly emerge! In front of this loving crowd, Sean got down on one knee and read a hand-written sonnet popping the question. Christine wasted no time in saying, "Yes!"

For all the days along the way
