Sarah and Brandon went to both grade school and high school together. Technically, they both went to Michigan State University too, however, Sarah moved to Texas the year that Brandon began attending MSU. They went about their lives until 2017 on a fateful night in June, they reconnected through DeKorsey DeMare and Snapchat. Sarah had posted a picture of the arcade game Donkey kong with the caption 'Donkey kong sucks' (Billy Madison, 1997) at the bar Kung Fu in Dallas. Brandon replied 'you know good movie quotes!" Brandon eventually texted Sarah because he "had her number from high school when they were friends". Sarah does not recall being friends in high school, but that's Brandons' story and he is sticking to it. They began talking and in July when Sarah was in Michigan for a month working remotely they went on their first date to a Tigers Game. It was a perfect date. Nothing went wrong and no one was nervous. Definitely not Sarah, that doesn't sound anything like her. No one misplaced their keys, or fell asleep, or ordered salmon which someone was very allergic to, or shot a rubberband at the valet guy, or had too much to drink. 🌝🌝 Nope, none of that happened. It was perfect 🌝.

Brandon and Sarah began a long-distance relationship in July 2017. Sarah was in Dallas getting her Masters in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience while Brandon was about to embark on his journey through Medical School in West Virginia at WVSOM. They dated long-distance and visited each other when they could. Sarah started a new job in 2018 and graduated from UT Dallas in December 2019. Brandon moved towns across West Virginia and Ohio as he completed his clinical rotations. Time flew by. They went on vacations to Naples and Hilton Head. They went to concerts and on dinner dates and snuggled up to precious Roons whenever they could. A lot happened and a lot of time passed, but they fought to make it work day in and day out. When COVID hit and the world went remote it opened up an opportunity for them to both be in Michigan and spend more time physically together. In May/June 2021 they planned a road trip during Brandon's off time to drive to Asheville North Carolina, Hilton Head, Indiana for a wedding, then off to New York. They explored all the sights, museums, different boroughs, pizza places, and went ring shopping. After almost 4 weeks of traveling, they were ready to head back home to see Roons.

After attending Sarah's college roommate's wedding in Vail, Sarah recommended visiting Boulder and hiking the flat irons before catching their flight back to Detroit. It was a beautiful Monday morning in August when they made the trek from Vail to Boulder. One was hungover but handling it like a champ, and the other was hungover and trying not to die. I'll let you be the judge of who was who. They packed their water bottles and some snacks and pulled into the parking lot for the Boulder Flat Irons. Brandon wanted to hike the highest route however the first and second Flat Irons were closed due to falling rocks. They went with the next best and chose to hike the 3rd flat iron. This is where Sarah will tell you it was meant to be as her favorite number is 3 and her tattoo of a roman numeral 3 represents God communicating to her 'you're exactly where you're meant to be'. After hiking upward, almost seeing some free climbers fall to their death, and sarah having a sneeze attack and no kleenex to blow her nose, they found a clearing of rocks with a great view. They paused to take some pictures and take in the view when Brandon got down on one knee. They stared at each other with anticipation and stars in their eyes and the moment felt similar to the sloth smiling in Zootopia before Brandon remembered how to use his words. True to form, Sarah was an impatient asshole who said 'are you going to ask me anything?" to which Brandon responded, "I just climbed a mountain, give me a moment!" He asked. She said Yes. They giggled and reveled in their moment all to themselves before heading down the trail and into downtown Boulder to get some pizza. They texted their families. Brandon finally got to join the Eaton family Snapchat, and they called Kelly Gardner to share the news to which she was excited but bamboozled by their even-keeled pizza-eating celebration. Now they spend their days wedding planning and renovating their house 🙂... ...and to add a little bit of spice, Sarah searches for mongrel dogs to bring home and rehabilitate.
