Do I need a passport to travel to El Salvador?

Answer

Yes! A valid passport is required. Make sure it doesn’t expire within 6 months of the wedding date—otherwise, the airline may not let you board

What currency is used in El Salvador?

Answer

Luckily for us, El Salvador uses the US dollar therefore no need to exchange currency upon arrival or before leaving!

When should I arrive? When should I leave?

Answer

We are planning for a welcome party the Friday before (Feb 13) and then 2 nights at an all inclusive resort the Sunday and Monday that follow (Feb 15-17). So we will have 4 days of activities planned to hopefully spend all together. Whatever you can afford to do financially and with work/time off we would love for you to attend! Ideal plan would be to fly in by Friday morning and leave on Tuesday! :)

Do I need a visa?

Answer

Most guests (including from the U.S., Canada, and Europe) do not need a visa. You may be asked to pay a small tourist fee (~$12 USD) when entering El Salvador.

Will transportation be provided to and from the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We will be providing group transportation to and from the wedding venue on the day of the event, so you can ignore the Uber app and say yes to the tequila shots.

Whats the best way to travel during the wedding weekend?

Answer

To your hotel/accommodations If you have made accommodations with the hotels listed on our travel page, you may call your hotel to arrange for pick up from the airport. Taxi services and Uber are also available from the airport to wherever else you may be staying in El Salvador. Welcome party Our welcome party will be hosted at Hyatt Centric San Salvador Glassy Pool and Bar area, if you are staying in the area it is very walkable. Taxi and Uber services are also available if you are not staying in the area. Wedding Ceremony Shuttle service to the ceremony will depart from the Hyatt Centric San Salvador at 2:00 PM, with return service provided after the reception. Guests may also arrange their own transportation—ride share options like Uber are readily available. Decameron All Inclusive Resort Shuttles will depart from they Hyatt Centric San Salvador on Sunday February 15 at noon to take us to the resort! Arrangements can be made from the resort to the airport upon check in.

Do we have to stay at the reccomended hotel?

Answer

While we will be providing a reservation link to a central hotel for our guests, everyone is more than welcome to find their own accommodations. El Salvador offers plenty of beautiful hotels and airbnbs for you to chose from. If you are finding your own accommodations you will be responsible for your own transportation.

Yes! Like anywhere, it’s good to be mindful of your surroundings and stick to trusted transportation and accommodations. We’ll share travel tips to help you feel confident and prepared.

What’s the dress code?

Answer

For the ceremony: Wedding formal-semi formal—think elegant and sophisticated in any color you please. Our celebration will take place in a beautiful outdoor venue with grass, dirt paths, and cobblestone accents. We suggest choosing apparel and footwear accordingly! For other events and days, classy and breathable—the tropical weather calls for something stylish yet comfortable.

No kids are allowed unless previously discussed with us. If you'd like to bring a little one, please reach out to us ahead of time to discuss.

We’ll miss you dearly! If you can’t make it, know that we still love you—and we’ll save you a dance in spirit. Feel free to send a toast or love note via the RSVP page.

Do we have to go to the All Inclusive Resort?

Answer

Not at all! You're free to explore El Salvador however you’d like — there’s so much to see, sip, and snack on. That said, we’ll definitely miss you if you're not there — especially when the late-night drinks and after-party fun kick in. We totally understand if you can't make it — work sucks, I know — and El Salvador has so many great spots to explore. Wherever you stay, we’re just excited to celebrate with you!

Can I extend my trip into a vacation?

Yes, and you totally should! El Salvador has beaches, volcanoes, pupusas, and vibes for days. Check the website for tips.

Will espresso martinis be in attendance?

Yes, and rumor has it they’ve already made friends with the pupusas. Together, they’re forming a dream team of chaos, carbs, and caffeine. You’ve been warned!

I’ve never had a pupusa… should I try one?

Answer

Should you try one? Oh sweet summer child. You’ll try one, then another, and by the end of the trip you’ll be questioning how you ever lived without them. Consider this your official welcome to the cult of melted cheese and magic.

What should I pack?

Answer

Sunscreen, swimwear, breathable clothes, party energy, and that one outfit that makes you feel happy. Passport and bug spray too, Mosquitos are everywhere! Very important.

While there are no specific vaccination requirements for travelers from the U.S. to El Salvador, it's recommended to ensure you're up-to-date on routine vaccinations like MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus), and influenza. P.S. Tequila shots will not be required for entry—but highly encouraged.
