Sean & I wanted a relaxing getaway, just the two of us, to enjoy. After months of going back and forth on the season we both said summer to fall. During COVID, we booked a resort in Antigua, paid for the wedding along with planning a week full of events and all. To later realize, that isn’t us. We are more laid back, hang out, relax. I mean we are a blended family with three kids that keep us upbeat and entertained. Back to the drawing board. We both love the mountains and the clamness it brings and the Great Smoky Mountains was a place my late father loved, and loved to sing about. We knew after researching, this was the spot.
We wanted our wedding the mountains, unplugged, with only us. Every place we looked at just wasn’t it, the mountains were, the venues not to much. I stumbled upon a Chapel in the middle of the woods, could this be true. Did the website really say that there is no cell phone reception, like off the grid!?! This can’t really be true. The Chapel was all that we wanted. It was outside, rustic, in the national forest, pick your colors, get ready on site. (www.chapelinthehallow.com ), and the owner also does photography so I knew she would know the best spots and lighting. I wore a long sleeve gown, with ivory lace, and an A line waste dress. Sean wore a custom navy blue suit, with a white linen shirt, with his dads wedding ring tucked in the inside pocket. I made my bridal bouquet and Sean’s boutonnières. I wore flat thong pearl sandals, and had a garter, honoring Sean and his time spent in the Navy. (We will Tell you about that whole mess up later… hahah ).
We booked an Airbnb in Sevierville, TN, close to Pigeon Forge. The Driveway to Haven. Yeah, that “driveway though.” The pictures were amazing, the place looked great and relaxing. After both of us looking for the perfect place we decided to just book it, so we did. We left at 1:00am that Saturday morning and drove straight through. This was actually super fun and the views were out of this world, I mean Sean was sitting next to me.
