How we Met

May 9, 2013

We were just two awkward freshman in high school who happened to start talking. After many late nights texting, Peter "asked Katrina out," in passing, in the high school hallway. Young and in love, we didn't know that God had some big plans for us to spend the next several years navigating life together. With the ultimate plan leading to marriage.

The Proposal

May 9, 2020

After seven fun-filled years of dating, falling more and more in love with each other every day, Peter finally got down on one knee and proposed the evening of our seven year anniversary. An evening date that Katrina had planned, to celebrate seven years together, turned into so much more. The plan was to drive down to the Petoskey waterfront and watch the sunset in the back of Peter's car. We brought blankets, snacks, our bibles, and music, prepared to enjoy each others company and reflect on the past seven years. After enjoying the scenery for a bit, we read through Ruth (1:16-17) and reflected on how we could incorporate this scripture into our relationship. Then we started talking about the future and what we hoped would come of it, before Peter insisted that Katrina come inspect a tree that was near the water. Placed strategically near the waters edge, with the sun slowly going down Peter started to recall the verse that we had just read in Ruth. Katrina was a little bit preoccupied with trying to capture the sunset that she didn't realize that Peter was down on one knee, behind her. With a simple, yet firm "Katrina, turn around," Katrina was shocked to find Peter, ring in hand, popping the question. Immediately tears started streaming, as Katrina was shocked that this moment was finally happening, but with a joyful YES, we were officially engaged. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives, with you! See you in Petoskey!
