Jessie Smith

Maid of Honor

I met Steph 26 years ago straight out of the womb. She may not have been a happy camper as I took over her role as baby of the family, but I was certainly lucky to have her as a big sister. We've been best friends ever since, even if we don't always get along. Good Memory I have 26 years full of memories, but here's a few that i'll never forget: Childhood: Making potions in our front yard, and tagging along with her and her friends anytime they'd let me Teenage years: We thought we were super cool and did a photoshoot while ice skating at Rockefeller Center Adulthood: Steph and Cal pretended to be a ghost and knock on Max and I's windows and make noises while on a trip in AZ, and i didn't sleep the rest of the trip, but to this day i laugh about our ghost friend, Maria

I met Caleb when I moved into our house in college. I was one of the first people to arrive & I thought the rooms upstairs would be mine for the picking. When I got up to what was (clearly) the biggest room in the house, I found a box of DVDs on the floor, as if to claim territory 🤔. That's when my roommate came upstairs to let me know she laid those there because "Caleb wanted the biggest room". I met Caleb immediately after learning he had our roommate save the biggest room for him because he thought he deserved it. Good Memory IC weekends that started out by us selling our plasma on Friday & immediately going to Taco Bell or BK & spending 50% of the $25 we just earned & ending with us at the L&M on Sundays picking up AT MINIMUM Sweet Spicy Chili Doritos & beers to porch it with

How did you meet Steph? Kindergarten. S/O to Mr. Lateral. Good Memory We were up North at Stephy's cabin. It was a beautiful summer day, so Stephy and I decided to scooter to the store to go get candy. It was an adventure because the store was over a mile away and it took us a long LONG time. We were riding RaZor scooters and we were 10+ years too old to be on Razor scooters. I don't think we even had money for our much desired candy, and I'm pretty sure we had to call Jessie to pick us up in her Escalade (lol), but we had so much fun! Scooters were our ride that summer (and Jessie's Escalade).

Caleb and I met in pre-school when we were 4 years old. We would go on to be classmates for the next 18 years at the same grade school, high school, and college (Go Hawks!). Good Memory Each summer in college, Caleb and I were employed as tent erectors for Berg Industries where we pitched tents all over the greater Rockford area.

I met Stephanie for the first time when she was visiting Sarah Rocca at the University of Iowa! Our friend group all went out together that night with Steph and just "clicked". Stephanie finally realized that she was meant to be a Hawkeye and transferred, leading us to be roommates and besties! Good Memory Steph and I loved to tear up the town of Iowa City on Tuesday nights. We would attempt to "study", but would end up pregaming and going out instead, just us two, always getting into more trouble than we expected. A time or two, we would even attempt to go to the library to study, glance over coursework for an hour, have some snacks and then we would decide that we weren't able to be productive and should just go out instead. Cheers to graduating!

The first time I met Caleb was when you ladies decided we should barge into their house for a pregame, and I tagged along. Can’t remember if it was before the bars or a game. Hahah Good Memory I feel like a lot of the memories I don’t remember because I was drunk. But the ones I do, are sitting on that damn porch barking at people walking by all day long. Or him yelling at the pledges walking to the sorority across the street with the megaphone.

I met Steph at the University of Iowa when Sarah Rocca introduced her as her "super fun, awesome friend that we will all LOVE and she was transferring to Iowa!" We quickly hit it off and became roommates and never looked back! Go Hawks!!! Good Memory There are too many to count... but between tailgating and screaming I-O-W-A in the stadium, hanging on the neighbs' front porch & the blowup pool, enjoying the bar scene at Iowa & staying out way too late, nursing our hangovers together with Bravo tv and studying/ going to business school classes together. The cabin weekend was another highlight weekend I'll never forget - best friends, boating, sunshine, pizza and a dive bar! Steph is the best boat captain I've ever had!

I think I officially met Caleb Sophomore year in art class where we began the whole “not listening to Mrs. Garrison”, “watching YouTube vids all class period” & really became good friends towards the end of Sophomore year since we started playing soccer together. Good Memory Besides the numerous parties when Caleb's parents were out of town, driving to WI to buy fireworks for the 4th. We were probably 16-17 at the time & of course it was the cool thing to do since you couldn’t legally drink or do much else. We ended up purchasing $350+ of fireworks and the clerk says “Would you guys want me to toss these in?! They’re some really…cool…HYY DRO CRACKKERRS (in a trashy carny voice).” Of course we lost it and started busting out laughing, but we did end up buying the hydro crackers.

How did you meet Steph? I believe we met through Sarah Rocca!! Good Memory The time we realized we both knew Maybe it was Memphis and belted it The time your mom visited is senior year and took us to bread garden for the wine and cheese tasting it was literally the fanciest thing I ever did in college and so much fun Senior year the week before finals I was trying to write a paper but decided drinking wine would help me. You came to my room to join me and I told you I had like 1,000 unread emails in my gmail and you went through my phone and deleted them while I was “writing” lol Halloween sophomore year, when we went out on Thursday, I don’t remember anything specific about it just that it was a good time like always and we took that pic we laugh about every year now at Halloween!

I honestly don’t remember how I met Caleb besides just in high school so not much of a story there haha Good Memory Caleb and I used to have super random ideas and acted on them when we lived together sophomore year. We used to play beer pong golf around the apartment on week nights, made a hookah from things around the house, and also bought a live lobster from the grocery store and hung out with it all day before cooking it for dinner.

I first met Steph at good ol' SpoCo. I could tell this wasn't just another one of my brother's friends, but that he really liked her. We were only there for a short time (Because Caleb had too much fun). I asked Caleb, "So, you like this Steph girl? Why haven't you asked her out yet? Ask her out!" And the rest is history. Good Memory I like to think we'll forever be bonded by our dreadful hike up the Manitou Springs Incline. A 2,000 ft elevation gain in less than a mile...sheer torture. We were not very excited, but figured we should give it a try. Nothing is worse than this steep incline, especially when Caleb & your mother are trying to "motivate" you by dancing up top, we may have cursed them the whole way up. Thank God there is a "bailout" point. Yes, we took it with no regrets.

I met Caleb our freshman year of high school. I really can’t remember a specific moment of meeting him, but one day the Rockford Lutheran crew was all hanging out with the Immanuel crew. We were all pretty fast friends (even though those guys were nerds lol). Good Memory Some of my most treasured memories of high school are of getting out early from class my senior year and driving around with Caleb in the Cavalier after school. I’d spend all day avoiding schoolwork, looking forward to hanging out with him after 6th hour. I also feel like he was the first of us to have real facial hair, so big respect to that as well.
