We've known each other for the better part of our entire lives. Our parents were in the same Sunday School class at Will Rogers United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our families literally grew up together. Joshua, the oldest of four boys, ran around with Adrienne's older brother in high school. While Adrienne ran around with Joshua's younger brother. From church plays to Spring Break mission trips, we've always been a part of each other lives.
Thursday, October 27, 2016 - During a pub crawl in downtown Tulsa we visited Dead Armadillo, a new-ish craft brewery. I had no idea Joshua had spent many hours there with the owners during its construction. (Ask him about the concrete counter tops!) As fate had it, this was the perfect excuse for him to start a conversation with me on Facebook the following day. Friday, October 28, 2016 - After much conversation about the bewery and the pub crawl, Josh invited me to lunch. I walked up the street to Dilly Diner. LET ME BACK UP HERE FOR JUST A MINUTE... Josh asked me out earlier that year. Trying to play cool, I responded with a "I've always got time for a drink with an old friend." His response: *crickets* BACK TO THE STORY... I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. But I was pleasantly surprised when a very dapper Joshua Kingsley greeted me. His look was complete with a pocket square and pink shoelaces! (It was October...he was supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month.) Lunch was great! I mean, who doesn't love breakfast at all hours of the day?! But I was unsure of whether it was a date, so I tried to play it cool. After lunch Josh walked me back to work, and that's when I knew it was more than just two friends grabbing lunch. After all, his truck was parked back down the street at the restaurant. Technically, I don't know that I'd call it a first date. But, I will always remember it as a very special date in our journey.
