Cahokia Mounds site of a Native American settlement that existed around AD 1100-1300, across the river from St Louis near present day Cahokia, IL. There is a museum and you can walk the grounds and mounds of this Illinois State Historic Site.
This is a beautiful academic and research garden in St Louis right by Tower Grove Park. One could spend 2-3 hours here learning about plants, and viewing the natural and curated landscapes.
