Travis and Sloane met in their second year of University, each of them remembering their first meeting quite differently. Sloane first met Travis at a friend's house, remarking on how he was "the cute one" but very disappointed when he was also "the taken one". Travis remembers meeting Sloane at her home during a friend's birthday party, where he smoothly asked her to be his teammate in the board game they were playing. Despite the discrepancies in their first meetings, both were taken by one another quite quickly. It only took Travis five months before he worked up the courage to ask Sloane on their first date. As luck would have it, a heavy snowstorm came through Guelph the day they were supposed to meet. Travis, the ever-determined, braved the chill and walked through the deep snow to get to Sloane's home where they watched Big Hero Six, and Sloane cried. From there their love grew. Six years of dates, of introducing their cats, of moving in together despite the cats not getting along, of many cups of tea, of love and loss, of growth and changes. They grew together, loving one another throughout it all, pushing one another to be the best versions of themselves, and supporting one another unerringly. On February 10th, 2024 Travis got down on one knee and asked Sloane to marry him, knowing they would have many more good days ahead of them, despite having to ask her twice when she didn't hear him the first time. Sloane and Travis are so beyond excited to begin their life together as newlyweds, and cannot wait to celebrate with the ones they love.
