We matched on Hinge and immediately hit it off talking about Lena’s Bigfoot garden statue, Becky. We met a week or two later on a Sunday, at a bar we both hated (Westport Social), for a date we were both dreading for no particular reason. Naturally, Sarah arrived late and almost walked directly past by Lena who was waiting for her at the bar. It was later revealed that Sarah had been drinking that afternoon at a friend’s pool. Despite all the odds against us, we were having a good time and particularly bonded over the only good game at Westport Social, darts. Hours passed, and at the end of the date Sarah asked Lena out on a second date, which she accepted, perhaps too eagerly, firing finger guns in Sarah’s direction. Mercifully, Sarah did not notice and the two would go on countless more dates, none of them at Westport Social.
One month after our first date, we met up at Bar K on a weekday evening. We were sitting at a picnic table, beers in hand, listening to what would become the soundtrack of our lives - dogs fighting loudly in the background - when Sarah asked Lena to be her girlfriend.
Sarah planned to propose to Lena during their trip to New Mexico. She was originally planning to propose at the end of September in Taos, however soon decided against it. Instead she hired an amazing photographer to capture the moment and take engagement photos on 9.22.23 in Santa Fe. However, on 8.30.23 Sarah realized she would be a fool if she didn’t propose on their special day. Lena planned to propose to Sarah during their trip to New Mexico. She was originally planning to propose in Taos, however soon decided against it. On 8.30.23 she realized she wanted to propose sooner and decided she would be a fool if she didn’t do it on their special day! The morning of their anniversary, Sarah sent Lena to drop the dogs off at daycare so they could have a relaxing day. Little did Lena know, Sarah was at home setting up for the proposal. Lena walked in to music playing, roses lining the floor, and coffee on the table. Sarah proposed and the rest was history! Except…Lena hadn’t proposed. Sarah anxiously waited all day, as she had a sneaking suspicion. When it came time for their anniversary dinner, Sarah gave up on the idea that Lena would propose. While sitting at the restaurant after a few sips of bourbon to calm her nerves, Lena proposed to Sarah. They both said yes.
