Megan was working as a travel nurse in Billings, Montana. Slater was visiting Billings for a work project. They both were eating dinner alone at the bar of a local restaurant, sitting with one seat in between them. Megan struck up conversation with a couple sitting nearby, who pressured her to "talk to that straight looking guy at the end of the bar". They all shared dinner and wine together, with a night cap at the Crystal Lounge, an infamous dive karaoke bar in Billings, Montana. Slater sang Tom Petty's "Last Dance with Mary Jane" and Megan sang No Doubt's "Just a Girl". The next day, Slater contacted Megan for help because his car got towed (womp womp) and she happily came to help. After he went back to Tacoma, they kept in touch, & he invited her to visit the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Megan took a travel nurse job in Seattle, fell in love with the sea creatures of the Puget sound, Slater included, and now calls Tacoma home.
