Mount Lemmon is one of our favorite places in Tucson. Nestled in the Santa Catalina Mountains, it features a scenic drive up to the small mountaintop town of Summerhaven. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of scenic viewpoints, and at the top, a refreshing pine forest. Stop in Summerhaven for a slice of pizza and a famous Cookie Cabin treat—perfect for a half-day adventure.

A beautiful state park with tons of trail options — especially fun at night, when you can spot tarantulas, scorpions, snakes, and other desert animals.

Saguaro National Park

AZ

Tucson is home to the largest cacti in the United States, saguaros. Visit Saguaro National Park to get immersed in nature. There are two park locations in Tucson: East (Rincon Mountains) and West (Tucson Mountains). You can find petroglyphs following the Signal Hill trail at Saguaro National Park West, or follow 1-2 mile loops at the east location to get immersed in the desert. The park is perfect for a morning or afternoon adventure to experience the beauty of the desert.
