Excellent beignets and cocktails, this is a great place to start on Magazine St. A variety of shopping opportunities and walkable sightseeing exist all along this stretch of road. Nearby are the Terrance Osborn Gallery and Magazine Antique Mall, which are two of our other favorite spots. Walking down either direction will lead to other funs shops and spots.
While we love all Oak St. has to offer, we suggest starting at this locally owned and operated bookstore. The two story shop had a wide variety of genres to choose from, and even a specific section for local authors and poets. Continue on Oak St. for great food, beet, and other delights.
Frenchmen St. is lovingly referred to as the local's Bourbon St. Almost every bar on Frenchmen has live music. Some of the best players in New Orleans play nightly on Frenchmen St. There's even a pop-up night market where local artists sell their jewelry, art, etc.
While there are few places in the Quarter locals will travel to, Fritzel's is an exception. Local musicians still maintain the traditions of New Orleans Jazz in this cozy club. There's also a "secret" speakeasy upstairs - but you'll have to stop at The Boutique Du Vampyre, Vampire Cafe, or Vampire Apothecary to get the password.
City Park is a perfect place to forget you're in the city! Full of trails and foliage, the park is the perfect retreat into nature. You can start from just about anywhere, but we love the Couturie Forest to get a little lost in. City Park also features NOMA, our classical art museum, and a Cafe Du Monde of its own.
