Kae and Sky met where all great stories begin: at a bar. Sky had just gotten off of band practice with his friend and drummer, Zach Hueser, and they headed to The Alley in Littleton, CO for a drink. Kae had just finished her shift at The Alley and was feeling adventurous, so she invited herself along to hang out with them. One drink turned into two, two drinks turned into closing down three separate bars. At four o'clock in the morning, they said their lingering (and exhausted) goodbyes. It took them both a while to decide who should make the first move. In the meantime, they met up for Dungeons & Dragons, drinks, and heartfelt conversations. After one of Sky's shows at The Alley, months of flirtation finally tipped them over into their next chapter. Over the next few years, their relationship somehow survived both the pandemic and that time that Sky took Kae to archery dodgeball and shot her in the face. With weekly open mics at The Alley, drinking tea and reading tarot on the weekends, and live music of all styles and volumes in the evenings, they filled their lives with poetry and song. In 2021, Sky popped the first big question: Will you move in with me... in New Orleans? After some careful consideration (mostly of the incredible food), Kae agreed, and packed up her dog (Whiskey!), and they drove south to start building a life together. Since having moved, they've picked up a new dog (Sage!), another guitar, and some wonderful new friends.
To celebrate their fourth anniversary, Kae and Sky decided to take a road trip through Louisiana to explore more of their new home. Kae planned the cities and the hotels they would stay in and very deliberately asked Sky to plan everything else (wink wink, hint hint, nudge nudge.) After some research, Sky found the perfect place to propose, a bookstore and bar called "The Whisper Room." Sky and Kae had often daydreamed about owning a bookstore/bar/coffee shop hybrid (with live music, obviously). After dinner at a Spanish tapas restaurant, Sky and Kae walked to the bookstore bar. Kae was delighted. While Kae was distracted with her new murder mystery, Sky stopped her in front of the romance section, got down on one knee, and popped the question. She said yes! The rest of the evening was a blur of champagne and joy.
