How it Started

April 2024

We met on the internet—Bumble, to be exact. (For those who don’t know, women have to make the first move on that app.) We like to joke that Jake, Aaron’s pup, was the real reason Skylar swiped right and started the conversation. After a few weeks of chatting back and forth, we made plans for our first official date. But before that day even came, we ended up meeting on a whim for a last-minute ice cream date. That night turned out to be special. Skylar brought her dog, Aspen, who kept us properly distanced the entire time. She also showed up exactly as she was—fresh off the lake after a day of paddle boarding. Aaron still lovingly calls her his “Lake Monster” from that day. Since then, we’ve grown together over countless shared adventures—bonding through our love of the water, the outdoors, and discovering new places side by side. One of our favorite trips was to Maine, where we ate lobster, went paddle boarding, hiked, and explored the Bar Harbor region. There wasn’t one single moment when we knew this was it—it was a thousand little moments that added up to something undeniable. And now, we’re so excited to be starting our next great adventure together: marriage!

The Proposal

December 26, 2025

The proposal was perfectly us from start to finish (which is to say: it didn’t go exactly as planned). Aaron originally planned to propose at Longwood Gardens, but on the night we were supposed to go, a wild ice storm rolled in and we decided against it. We still wanted to get outside for a walk, though, so after tossing around a few ideas, we landed on Newlin Grist Mill—a place we’ve visited together many times and one of Aspen’s favorite spots to swim. Naturally, we debated bringing Aspen along, but Aaron quickly (and convincingly) talked us out of it. It was freezing, we would’ve spent the entire time trying to keep her out of the water, and it would’ve made what he had planned a little tricky. Once we arrived, we walked down by the water and watched the fish for a while. Aaron had originally thought about proposing on the rocks there, but then he remembered a small waterfall and started guiding us in that direction. Several large rocks crossed in front of the waterfall, and he had planned to propose on the central one—except I accidentally walked ahead. When we reached the other side, he caught me completely off guard. Aaron asked if I knew how much he loved me, and when I said yes, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was intimate, heartfelt, and perfectly us—just another adventure, this time with a ring involved.

Forever

September 19th, 2026

This is just the beginning. While we’re counting down the days to celebrate with the people we love most, what we’re truly looking forward to is everything that comes after — the quiet mornings, the big adventures, the ordinary Tuesdays, and all the moments in between. We can’t wait to promise forever in front of you and then spend a lifetime building a home, a family, and a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Thank you for being part of our story — the best is truly yet to come.
