Tamarack is first on the list primarily because it is the location of the venue, and for those staying on site, they will find there is plenty to do, including: Hike Mountain Bike Zip line White Water Raft Pickle Ball Axe Throw Lake activities Disc Golf
The small lake-front town of Mccall has everything you need for a day or two. You can rent a boat and take a trip on the water, you can travel to the north beach to kayak, picnic, or swim, or you can see what the many shops, restaurants, and bars have to offer. Our favorites are the Sushi Bar, Frenchie's, My Father's Place, and Bistro 45. Salmon River Brewing has plenty of seats and is close to the lake. Broken Horn is tiny but the beer is great. Other activities are plenty and wide ranging. There are two golf courses, ATV rentals, horse riding, mountain biking, and hiking, of course.
Ideal for easy-access hikes, lake views, and a great chance to spot deer.
Whether you want to golf, mountain bike, or hike to the top of a mountain, this area of the valley is stunningly beautiful, and you won't be sorry you took the quick drive. It also has a restaurant on site. For those interested in some trivia, the Long Valley Finn Church, built in 1917, is in the area, and it is both where Skye's parents were married, but also the inspiration behind the church Skye and Matt will say their vows in.
Skye's favorite place in Idaho, though it's definitely off the beaten track. At 3+ hour drive from both Boise and Donnelly (the wedding venue), it is for those looking for more of an adventure. And if you're willing to make the drive, it will be worth it if the skies are blue, especially if you're into hiking, horse-back riding, fishing, or photography. The jagged mountain peaks are striking, and the lakes are emerald.
Southwest of Boise is the Snake River Valley Wine Region. The top varietals to taste are Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Viognier. If you don't want to drive so far out of the way, Boise offers many tasting rooms that feature the region. Skye's personal favorite is Cinder Wines.
For those staying a night or two in Boise, don't worry, there is plenty to do. The green belt is beautiful for a leisurely walk or bike along the river. Payette Brewing, 10 Barrel, and Western Collective are a few of our favorite breweries. There are several wine tasting rooms, including Cinder Wines, Telaya, and Coiled Wines. Travel to the North End for Westside Drive-in (food), Camel's Back Park (hiking and biking), and Hyde Park (shopping and food). Downtown Boise features shopping, restaurants, and JUMP (https://jumpboise.org).
This cute little Idaho town is not exactly close, but if you're heading toward the Sawtooths from Boise, you can stop on the way. A home to several celebrities, and a favorite of Hemmingway, this town is a little bougier than other spots in Idaho, but it is beautiful, clean, and has no shortage of things to do. It's known for its winter sports, but summer activities include hiking, biking, and shopping, among other things.
