For those who have the time, we highly encourage you to stay a few extra days and make a vacation out of it! San Miguel de Allende sits at 6,234 ft in the high desert of central Mexico. Sky’s family has been traveling there for 17 years, and after Steven joined them on a trip in 2016, he fell in love too, and so will you:) San Miguel is known for its well-preserved buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, its colorful and narrow cobblestone streets, delish food, and eclectic artwork. In July 2008, UNESCO recognized San Miguel de Allende as a World Heritage Site. Check out the "FAQ" and “Things to do” pages for important information and personal recommendations! PLEASE NOTE there are no direct flights to San Miguel. The closest airport is a one hour and twenty minute drive away (see "Travel/Hotels" page for airport and shuttle information ). Also, the streets are all cobblestone and the city is hilly so please pack appropriate walking shoes!
