Skin and Bones

The Doctors Rogozinski

For those of you that dont know, Elizbaeth is a dermatologist (hence the skin) and Jonathan is an orthopaedic surgeon (hence the bones). And anyone that knows what becoming a board certified physician entails knows we’ve been married to our professions for awhile now. So we cannot celebrate this marriage without acknowledging what brought us to Dayton and to each other - our professions. Here’s to a lifetime of skin and bones!

Match Made in Heaven

Joanie & Ruthie Just Knew

How is it that a guy from Florida meets a lady from California in Dayton, Ohio? A match this perfect doesn't just happen, there must have been a little help. Turns out, we think Jonathan & Elizabeth's maternal grandmothers just may have constructed such fate... During a casual conversation, it was discovered that their mothers' sides of the families knew of one another in Dallas. After a deep search, Elizabeth's mom found her mother's high school yearbook and there they were - Joan Rosenthal and Ruth Rolnick, names just above and below each other and countless pictures of them together in various organizations. Although these incredible women may not be celebrating this marriage in person, they surely must have bumped into one another in heaven and somehow knew their granddaughter and grandson would be the perfect match.

How We Met

11•26•2019

As with all modern day romances, it all started on the world wide web. Once Jonathan laid eyes on Elizabeth's profile, it wasn't a matter of if but when. After some serious research and mulling over the options, Jonathan settled on reaching out to an old friend in hopes she could make the magic happen for J & E. Little did he know, Elizabeth was sitting next to this old friend and acquiesced to a number request. A day passed, numbers and texts exchanged, and date #1 occurred on a rainy Tuesday night in a classic whiskey bar. A few Old Fashions and Manhattans later, they shared their first kiss underneath a small umbrella in the pouring rain. Needless to say, subsequent dates happened shortly thereafter and the rest is history.

The Proposal

8•30•2020

Our very first extended vacation together started with a flight to California. After Jonathan became fully acquainted with Elizabeth's parents (and slyly asked for permission to marry her from her father), they headed to beautiful Lake Tahoe for the week. The day started out with a bang: a hike to Eagle Rock, a bike ride to and from Sunnyside, a beach day at Chambers, and a nap on the couch (standard). After such a long day, they decided to get all dressed up and have cocktails and dinner in. Elizabeth was finishing up as Jonathan said he needed to grab something from the car...and he didn't return. Elizabeth turned the corner and there was a little note that indicated she take a look through a photo album located on his conveniently placed phone on the counter. Elizabeth sat down in shock and watched 8 curated videos of Jonathan giving her a countdown from day 1 of receiving the ring in the mail to the day before he proposed. The last video guided her outside and there was Jonathan, ring in hand behind the Cedar in the front of the cabin. After tearing her off of him, he knelt down and asked if Elizabeth would marry him. I love you was the first answer. The second, yes. It was never a matter of if but when.
