After a swipe right, we met for drinks on the rooftop at Hotel Chantelle in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Meredith was late, and Alex was a little quiet, but after finding out we both ran the Brooklyn Half Marathon, the rest of the night was spent over good conversation and cocktails. The rest is history!
It was a beautiful June beach day, and per our routine, we headed down to the beach early ahead of Meredith's family to maximize our sun time. We always go to Osborne Avenue in Margate, New Jersey, which is the street Meredith has been going to since she was a little girl. Alex suggested that we take a walk. After a few attempts to hide the box (clumsily "looking for something" in the beach bag, claiming he had a work email to send, and even trying to convince Meredith to "wait by the water"), we set off on the walk. A few minutes in, Alex feigned dropping his phone in the sand, and before Meredith knew it, he was on his knee! (Spoiler alert - she said yes!)
