Flight
(Best Flight Option) Small Airport located in Warwick RI. 30-minute drive to Point Judith, RI where the ferry is located. Ubers/Lyfts from Point Judith can be limited so I would look at reserving them ahead of time or Cab alternatives.
Train
To get to Rhode Island by train from Boston, the best option would be to take Amtrak from South Station. Amtrak trains from Boston go out of a few stations, but South Station is most common. From South Station, you can take the Amtrak train to Kingston, RI and then take a 20 minute uber to Point Judith, RI to catch the high speed or standard ferry to Block Island.
Travel Note
This is the link to the high-speed ferry, a quick 30 minute ride from Point Judith, RI to Block Island, RI. We recommend you make a reservation to be safe.
Travel Note
This is the traditional ferry from Point Judith, RI. This is a good option if you don't want to pay for the high speed OR if you plan to take a car to Block Island. We recommend making a reservation ahead of time. CAR reservations open January 15th. Book ASAP.
Train
Two options for NYC to Ferry or Flight Amtrak (New York Penn Station): This is the pricier option (~$100 one way, but prices fluctuate). Take the Amtrak to New London, CT to connect with the ferry. Metro North (Grand Central): This is the cheaper option (~$35 one way, prices don't fluctuate). Take Metro North to New Haven, CT and grab an uber to New London or hop on the shoreline east train to get to New London Ferry.
Travel Note
THE NEW LONDON FERRY ONLY RUNS FRIDAY-SUNDAY STARTING SEPTEMBER 1st. This is the link to the ferry options available from New London, CT to Block Island. It's about an hour trip on the high-speed ferry. All information regarding fares, schedules, etc. can be found on their website. We would recommend making reservations for the ferry based on your schedule as and when the reservations become available.
Flight
This is the fastest option for the last leg of your trip, a quick 12-minute flight across the pond to Block Island. We will say - these planes are not made for everyone... they are tiny, have an 8 passenger limit, and are authentic 1970's plane. BUT the views are incredible, it's a unique experience and the fastest route from mainland to the Island. We recommend calling New England Airlines if you have any questions regarding luggage weight limits, flight times, etc.
