The Oar is a Block Island institution. This is the 2nd best mud slide on the island - they serve them in plastic cups, which is a miss. Fan Favorite menu item - Tuna loco sushi roll. Great spot to hang out overlooking the Great Salt Pond where most boats dock, anchor and stay on moorings. You will also get a different view of our wedding venue, the Sullivan House - the big white tent on the hill. The Oar has corn hole and big picnic tables outside - making it a great spot for larger groups, folks with dogs, etc.
This is the best mudslide you will find on the island. Get the espresso aperitif floater always and never add the banana. The bar is at the end of the dock where you can hang out under the sun, grab some decent bar food, see how many mudslides you can drink, shoot some pool inside, shop for your next boat and most likely catch some live music.
This is THE Block Island institution where we've spent many afternoons, late nights, received countless Block Island baptisms and drank plenty of Dark & Stormy's. The Dark and Stormy is a must here.
The Spring House Hotel might be where some of you choose to stay. It's also one of our favorite spots on the island to hang out for sunset. They have a great bar on the deck with food and the best martinis on the island, Adirondack chairs on the lawn, and usually have live music as well. Fan favorite: Espresso Martini
This is the best beach on Block Island, and one of our favorite beaches in the world. We've spent many days here and we highly recommend you do too. Tell the cab driver, or put in your maps, that you want to go to Scotch Beach, it's a specific section of the beach right across from 'Dinghy Beach' - our usual path to Crescent Beach from the boat in the Great Salt Pond. Bring a cooler, chairs, dogs if you have them, beach games, soak up some sun and enjoy the beautiful water.
This is one of our favorite dinner spots on the island. We highly recommend grabbing a table out back if you're looking for a more intimate dinner.
Great spot for a meal with a larger group. Really good BBQ food and you can usually walk in. It's also right next door to one of our favorite bars - Captain Nick's.
The Barn is right behind the Spring House Hotel and is a really good dinner spot. A higher end, but worth the price, meal.
The Surf at Block Island Beach House is a great spot for lunch and a drink. They have a really cool area out front with couches, tables etc. where you can grab some lunch while staring at the waves crashing on Crescent Beach. They also have a bar on the deck as well.
If you want to see the rest of the island outside of town and the Great Salt Pond, you need to walk off some mudslides, or whatever it may be, one great activity we recommend is to head to Mohegan Bluffs. You can grab a cab or ride a bike to get here. The beautiful views of the ocean, the bluffs, a secluded beach make Mohegan Bluffs a great afternoon activity. Get ready for some stairs though!
Block Island has tons of great hiking trails that are walkable from town, our personal favorite is the Clay Head trail on the north end of the island. But there are plenty of others detailed in the link provided. Check out the lighthouses too! While you're on the hikes - keep your eye out for the infamous Glass Orbs. It's a Block Island tradition to search for these orbs that are crafted by a local artist and hidden on public land throughout the Island every year. We've been dragged many miles looking for these...still orbless.
