Yes, we were both online dating. And yes, we were both on Tinder. Wish I could remember exactly what he said in that first message that was so charming and engaging that I agreed to meet him. The first date was awkward until that amazing goodnight kiss. He asked me out again. Date number two was fantastic and by date number three, we were exclusive. (Chilly second date photo should be below) Luckily, Tom not only helped care for my mom, he very much loved her. After she passed, he wanted to discuss marriage and gave me a rose promise ring for Christmas 2018. We started talking about wedding dates, but then Tom's son, Red, came to live with him. We scrambled to get the house turned around, so they could move in with me. September 2019, Red started at the local school with me as acting Stepmom. At his family's Christmas party, Tom proposed to me properly, so we will be a little family and have his younger son every other weekend.
Having stopped dancing after 25 years, I was always looking for a new opportunity but I didn't want to force anyone into joining me. So I had stayed away from ballroom dancing. To my surprise, Tom bought us passes to a ballroom lesson and dance party at a Fred Astaire Studio. After the first visit, he was hooked. He told me that he'd brought past girlfriends to classes, but they never seemed very interested. And since then, he has been encouraging me to dance and insisting that we take more classes. In five months we've become competent in TEN dances. But Tom insists that being competent isn't enough. He wants to be straight up Good. So instead of dragging someone along to dance with me, I just let myself get swept along by his enthusiasm. As much as I love varied styles of dance, it is absolutely true that it takes Two to Tango.
