It's all happening!

2 east coast kids living the LA dream...and by dream I mean paying too much for rent, sitting in horrific traffic and trying to avoid dog (or human...can't always be too sure) poop on the sidewalks. LA is a beautiful and crazy place and one fateful Memorial Weekend these 2 twenty somethings found each other. Yes Casey may have turned Matt down a few times in the beginning...but in the end fate, charm and wicked kindness/humor prevailed. The first date was about 1 month after meeting and was a romantic evening of cinemas (Jurassic World) & refreshments (beer and matzah soup at Canters Deli). After the first date it was quite apparent the number of interests there were in common: punk rock shows, movies, hikes, camping, fitness, kickball, family, games, travel, etc.

You know that stupid saying "when you know, you know?" and you want to gag every time someone says that...well prepare to gag because we pretty much knew this was it. We moved in together less than a year later where Casey learned to appreciate Matt's "tidiness" and obsession with cameras and bags...there's a bag for the bags. No joke. While Matt learned to appreciate Casey's obsession with decor...what the difference between a usable towel & decorative towel was, and what constitutes cleaning vs Casey cleaning. Here's the part that I'll give a short paragraph to. While we started having conversations about the future: getting married, moving out of LA to own a home and have kids the unimaginable happened. It hasn't stopped us from continuing to "get busy living" and encouraging "positive vibes only" and continuing to live our new normal life. We've grown closer, stronger and have stayed busier than ever -- we will continue to always have hope and continue to live our lives as best we can. Including MARRIAGE.

It was a dark and stormy night....actually wait, no it was a perfect breezy evening on a beautiful beach in Hawaii. Matt and Casey were attending a Luau in Ko'Olina with the rest of the Siners. The sun was beginning to paint the sky as it poked thru the clouds. They had just gone on a little kayak ride around the bay. Everyone was leaving the beach to head back to the Luau to start dinner. Shoeless in the sand, Matt took Casey's hand and said "Let's hang back for a bit and take some sunset photos." He set his camera up and told Casey to look out towards the sunset as he held her hand. When she turned back around, he was down on one knee. Neither of them remember the details of what he actually said in that moment, but when he pulled out a little box from his pocket, Casey was overwhelmed with emotions. As the tears started to flow, Matt managed to ask her the big question. She gave a resounding YES as he planted that ring on her finger. At this point, Matt's family had caught on to what was happening and when they turned around they realized they were no longer alone on the beach. All the Siners were there to hug and cry and take photos and celebrate this special moment together. They spent their first week as an engaged couple waking up to the Hawaiian ocean and going on amazing adventures on the island of Oahu!
