The Catskills

Since moving to NYC, the Catskills have become one of our favorite getaway locations. The open spaces, fresh air, and communities take us back to our roots and are a welcome change from the pace of our life in the city. Join us for a weekend (or just a day!) away in one of our favorite Catskill towns, Callicoon! Here are some things to do that weekend!

Leaf Peeping

The Catskills region experiences a peak of color in mid-October!

HIKE - Crystal Lake

This is one of our favorite hikes nearby - it is very easy, I'd consider it more of a "nature walk." You can do this with children.

HIKE - Jenson Ledges

This is a moderate hike about 30 minutes from Callicoon.

HIKE - Mongaup Mountain Loop

A difficult 12-mile hike ~45 minutes away.

BREWERY - Callicoon Brewing Company

The local Callicoon brewery, great beer and an easy walk to the center of town!

BREWERY - Catskill Brewery

An awesome brewery in the town of Livingston Manor. Very cool brewery in an old farm with outdoor space with games. Great to bring the kids to!

DISTILLERY - Catskill Provisions

An amazing whiskey distillery that specialized in honey whiskey from local bees!

VINEYARD - Bashakill Vineyards

A beautiful vineyard with amazing views for some fall leaf peeking.

Visit Callicoon, NY

Visit the small towns (or 'hamlets') of The Catskills! Callicoon is one of our favorites, and where the wedding events are located!

Callicoon Main Street

Check out main street shops, river walk and other sights to see!

Callicoon Artwalk 2022

Callicoon hosts an Art Walk every Fall, and it is the weekend of our wedding! It is on Main Street from 12pm - 8 pm on Saturday, October 8th! Be sure to explore the different vendors and artists!

Callicoon Farmer's Market

Callicoon has a farmer's market every Sunday from 11 am - 2 pm. They have some of the BEST produce and meat from local NY farms!

Go Antiquing!

There is a TON of antiquing in The Catskills. Here are some local options: Antique Center; Callicoon, NY Town and Country Antiques; Liberty, NY Lee Hartwell Antiques; Callicoon, NY Main Street Thrift Shop; Callicoon, NY

Landers River Trips

Callicoon is right on the Delaware River, so if it is warm enough (or you are brave enough), there are plenty of river-activities for you to do, like canoeing and kayaking.

Callicoon Theater

Interested in a movie night? Callicoon Theater is the oldest continually operated cinema in Sullivan County, New York (oooo). Check out their schedule to see what's playing!

RESTAURANT - Callicoon Wine Merchant

One of Lydia and I's favorite places to go for a cheeseboard and glass of amazing wine. Bonus; the people there are super great!

RESTAURANT - Callicoon Hills

A very beautiful restaurant with amazing food, just a short drive away from town!

RESTAURANT - Western Hotel

Hotel with a bar and restaurant. Good food, and they have a pool table! You may find some of the Koniski family hogging the table!

RESTAURANT - Creek House Grill

Local bar and restaurant with good food and atmosphere.

RESTAURANT - Rafter's Tavern

A local bar and restaurant, right in the center of town.

Visit Narrowsburg, NY

Narrowsburg is ~15 minutes away, another adorable small town to explore. There are great restaurants, cafes and shopping!

Visit Livingston Manor, NY

Livingston Manor is ~30 minutes from Callicoon. Arguably one of the more "happening" Catskill towns. Shopping and restaurants to visit!

Visit Liberty, NY

Another nearby town! Can't lie to you, we've never been here.

Visit Jeffersonville, NY

Another! Also have not been here but the internet says to visit.
